Why the U.S. Should Merge With Canada
Politico ^ | April 10, 2014 | Diane Francis

The United States and Canada are far more integrated than most people think. In fact, a merger between the two countries isn't just desirable—it's inevitable.

We share more than just the world's longest border. We share the same values, lifestyles and aspirations. Our societies and economies are becoming similar in significant ways.

Let’s merge the French portion of Canada with Chicago, DC Philly, Baltimore & New York,(and Detroit), we can keep the rest of Canada & USA.

Geez....sitting around after having blown a bunch of coke, drank one too many Yaegers or boilermakers the night before, hung over, headachy and desperate for some inane BS topic on which to expound expertly....

Give me a break...

The only thing this author wants is Canada’s hate-thought laws to become law here.

While Canada seems very similar to America, there are some big differences. One of which has to do with free speech.

Canada has censored radio programming, such as Dr. Dobson from Focus on the Family, due to alleged hate speech against homosexuality. They have hate speech laws which are far stricter than any laws or policies in America on the subject. How will such differences in laws be reconciled?

There are other differences, such as tax laws. I understand that home mortgage interest is not deductible for income tax purposes in Canada, for example. I’m sure that there are other tax law differences as well.

And what of healthcare? With Obamacare, we still have the framework of a privately run healthcare system, with doctors as independent businessmen and women, whereas Canada has full blown socialized medicine. How to reconcile that will be a challenge.

Lots of areas of life would have to be reconciled.

I wonder if Canada fears being swallowed up by the U.S. if this happened. Rather than a merger of equals, would Canada simply be submerged????

Maybe someone to talk to the Queen about that. I'll bet we could even get a roaring laugh out of that from her.

Only under this administration..........

Canada actually checks out who they allow to immigrate there. We don`t. My brother had to wait for a visa to move there once. His company had to prove they tried to hire a Canadian first before the visa was issued.

How xenophobic of them: putting the welfare of their own citizens ahead of immigrants¡

Every Canadian’s worst nightmare, is to somehow become just part of the rest of the territory once known as “the United States of America”.

The citizens of Canada couldn’t really accept the responsibility to straighten out the majority of voters in that tormented land. They are not into nation-building.

Look for the same idea to be pushed more and more often.

Say it enough times and it starts gaining traction.
