Many New York gun owners expect the April 15 deadline to register assault weapons under the states strict new law to be largely ignored.
People are pretty much convinced once they get on this registration, the next time theyll say theyve got to turn them in, said Stephen Aldstadt, president of the Shooters Committee on Political Education, who helped organize a protest at the Capitol this past week against the law.
The states SAFE Act, spearheaded by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo and passed in the wake of the 2012 school shooting in neighboring Connecticut, bans New York sales of semi-automatic weapons with detachable magazines and one military-style feature...

the next time theyll say theyve got to turn them inCould it be that New Yorkers are learning from history? Registration followed by confiscation is EXACTLY what happened in NYC.

And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward. ― Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918-1956

First to cite an “unfortunate boating accident that suggests I don’t have any weapons” on this thread.

The IRS is checking.

The gun industry sure attracts the same kind of seedy types that drugs and prostitution does.
Don’t like the laws passed by those we elect? Not a problem, just ignore them.
If they are felons anyway, they might as well manufacture machine guns and other NFA items, in for a penny in for a pound, right?

As it has been stated in a YouTube video from Texas:
“When they come for your guns, give them the bullets, first!”
I stand with those in New York, who see that the American idea of saying “no”, is poisonous to any elected person, at any level, and are standing on their convictions, and ready to defend their freedoms.

People are pretty much convinced once they get on this registration, the next time theyll say theyve got to turn them in What else could be the point of registration?
1. It's not like having a weapon "registered" is going to prevent someone using them in a crime.
2. For that matter - no one who will register their weapons is going to use them in a crime...
3. Goto 1.

If they do not comply will the government send troops against them on April 19 as the government did in 1775?

The thing is that the Washington government is so busy watching and hating -us- that they can’t deal with the coal fire burning under their own feet. I fully expect CWII to kick off in a blue state, and very possibly a major city.

Funny you should mention it. Mr. GG2 and I were just discussing that it may well be Connecticut that is the new Lexington and Concord. The firing on Ft Sumpter etc. The spark that ignites the fire.

Get out of the cities, and it is all red.
I do expect this to get ugly soon. Unfortunatly. No one wins when that happens.
