I question the use of military hardware and personnel in what is clearly NOT a national security matter.
To: SoFloFreeper
It could have been prevented by parents with a little common sense.

But they may also be delivering meals to the poor folk on the boat at the same time so it is justified. That is their primary purpose!

What kind of idiot parent risk taking a 1 year old on a voyage around the world?
To: SoFloFreeper
You should’nt take little tots on that kind of trip anyway, unless you’re running away from some Communist oppressor. I’m surprised Mom went along with it. Wait till the girls are in high school, then do it. They can help as Deck Hands on the fantail.
To: SoFloFreeper
We must pay for ignorant selfishness of those that would take a one year old on a round-the-world sailboat ride.

If you get trapped on a mountain during a blizzard, I think they often charge you a pretty penny after they rescue you.
I imagine that people who decide to sail around the world probably have a fair amount of money. That's nice.
Hopefully, the price tag of this rescue will make any future effort too expensive for their depleted bank account.
To: Flavious_Maximus
Yes, all people should just stay home where its nice and safe.

Akin to taking an infant on a mountain climbing expedition. The sea is not something you trifle with, I don't care how “experienced” a sailor the father claims to be.

Wait till the girls are in high school, then do it. I certainly wouldn't force anyone to go through that misery.

Not saying that everyone should always just stay home. Or that we can eliminate risk entirely from life. I think people are questioning having two little kids on a sailboat in the middle of the ocean.
To: SoFloFreeper
they don’t have proper medical supplies on board for sicknesses? they take a 1 year old on such a journey that is not a necessity?
