On Thursday, Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich resigned thanks to pressure by both the company infrastructure and the left over a $1,000 donation he made to Proposition 8, a 2008 ballot initiative that would have enshrined traditional marriage as the standard for state marriage in California.

Sounds like you’re the one being emotional and bothered.
Most users know only three browsers - Internet Explorer (Microsoft), Chrome (Google) or Firefox (Mozilla). Most conservatives who may rise in indignation at Mozilla’s actions will run to one of the other two who, IMO, are politically just as evil or worse.
Maybe you’d rather go with a small independent browser and suffer all the compatibility problems or limitations that often show up. That’s your choice.
But urging others to follow you will just take them to Microsoft or Google which, IMO, is foolish and ill-considered.
Sorry. I think I must have misread. :) TR has been an excellent site.
What is the best Linux distro to use to replace XP? Seen tons of differing opinions on the web but think I’ll get the best advice here. Had an old 1 TB drive ( 2 years ) that I thought was bad and wasn’t. Plan on downloading Linux on a CD, clearing the old drive and installing it there. I want to set up as dual boot making the current XP drive second and the new Linux as primary. Sound OK?
Thanks expat1000.
I don’t know. Maybe clearing your cache and cookies on your browser.
Try mint, there are a bunch of good distros for it...
Thanks, already downloading it to a flash drive.
no prob. Someone else had posted a thread here a while ago about what XP users might do when M$ drops support for XP this month. In that thread there were a number of good alternatives with listings of pros and cons.
Mint looked like the best option to me, I think there is a Cinnamon desktop IIRC, that looked interesting.
I’ll see if I can find the thread and post a link for you.
Now you’re changing your tune after discovering that I never said I’d go with either MS or Google.
“urging”? Show me one example that I urged any to “follow me”.
OrangeHoof is working overtime on the false assumption boat today, folks. I think it needs a nap.
FYI (from comments at the BetaNews site), Mint 17 LTS is coming out in May and is supported until 2019. KDE is a good interface as well.
Sorry for the non-functional link in my previous post.

If you have a relatively recent PC, especially one with CPUs having Virtual support, install Linux and create a Windows virtual guest on it.
With virtual technology, flipping between the two Operating Systems then becomes a mouse click instead of a reboot.
Thanks a heap for the informative posts ShadowAce! HGC, you should follow the link to the PCWorld article for a ton of info.
AMEN!
The problem with conservatives is that we don’t fight back
maybe some conservative employers ought to find out which employees they have that voted for Obama and fire them.
The libnazis need to be shown that if they want to play this game they can get hurt too.
Just tried out Linux Mint from a flash drive. Looks good. Thought about importing all of the Windows settings and bookmarks it will let me ( from Firefox ) but then realized that most of it I don’t use daily. Would rather start clean.
Seen various web opinions on whether to use anti antivirus and malware programs on Linux. Thoughts?
I say STOP using Mozilla Firefox, the GAY web browser!
