There is a show right now on the American Heroes Channel, I think it used to be the “Military Channel”, about the 291st Engineer Combat Battalion.
Their less than 150 men stopped Peiper’s thrust into Belgium by mining and blowing the bridges just before he got to them. One of them, private Bernie Goldstein got out in the middle of the road and ordered them to halt. The Germans were mystified as to what was going on and halted. They then decided to wait until the next day to continue.

Where were you? I was a freshman at a little engineering college in Philadelphia and music director of the college radio station. Little did I know that the most important things I would take from college would come from my radio experience and not from the chemistry degree that I never used. I was also in ROTC, and together the two would permit me to make my own break into radio five years later.
So what were you up to?
Cue the Rockumentary theme!
This band was Motowns Funk Brothers backed with pickup musicians from the Detroit Symphony.
This was an entry from a basic doo-wop group, but the key thing was that the song was written by Country giant John Loudermilk, whose cousin would be my CO at Fort Lewis five years later. This is not at all like the songs he wrote for Dick & Dee Dee, Sue Thompson and others.
Thanks for your hard work! GodBlessUSA; mylife; AZAmericonnie; Kathy In Alaska; Ms.Behavin;EsmeraldaA; ConorMacNessa;acad1228; LibertyValance; Cindy; Starwise; 50mm; iron munro; publius; spel_grammer_an_punct_polise; Drumbo (and me) YOU ROCK OUT LOUD!! God bless our troops!!! |
Hi Everybody!
((((HUGS))))
Read: Ephesians 4:11-16
When the British Broadcasting Corporation asked for examples of important-sounding, obscure, and even bizarre job titles, one writer offered hers: Underwater Ceramic Technician. She was a dishwasher at a restaurant. Sometimes titles are used to make a job sound more important.
When the apostle Paul listed some of Gods gifts to the church in Ephesians 4:11, he did not intend for these to be understood as high-sounding job titles. All the parts of the body are necessary for the body to function properly. No one part is better than another.
What was of primary importance was the purpose of these gifts. They were for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to . . . the stature of the fullness of Christ (vv.12-13).
It matters little what title we hold. What is important is that we strengthen the faith of Gods people. When we gauge our effectiveness by the standard that the Bible gives us, it will not matter when we are moved to another role or no longer hold a specific title. Out of love for God, we serve to build up fellow believers, and we let God give His commendation in heaven as He sees fit (Matt. 25:21).

One of the benefits of being the music director of the college radio station was that I got to listen to everything that was released, whether it was bad or good. Sometimes a record that was truly bizarre would come my way. This was a huge hit in the UK and got some air play in a few American markets, but it was too strange for American tastes. This was unfortunate because it is very well produced. A lot of money went into this.

It started with the play The Four Poster and became the off-Broadway musical I Do! I Do!, by Tom Jones (not that one!) and Harvey Schmidt, best known for The Fantasticks and the song Try to Remember. Robert Preston and Mary Martin played the lovers for the fifty years of their marriage.
Ed Ames had sung with the Ames Brothers in the Fifties, but by this time he was playing an Indian in the TV series Daniel Boone. Watch his breath control and the way he paces that long A-flat at the end.
Good evening, Publius, and thank you for tonight’s Rockumentary of March 15, 1967. ((HUGS))
