Not everyone uses a gun in Texas. One man pulls out a sword to defend himself over the weekend in Katy. It happened at a home near The Grand Parkway and Kingsland Boulevard Saturday night when a woman’s estranged husband showed up at her home with her live in boyfriend.
According to the boyfriend, Eugene Thompson, the husband came after him and that’s when Eugene ran into the bedroom closet and got his “Legend of Zelda” replica sword. Thompson told our t-v partner Local 2 that the sword was sharp and pointed.

Yeah,that one threw me for a moment, as well. Made it seem that the two men converged on the woman’s home together.
I bought my son a Cold Steel Army saber when he was commissioned. I really like it and think I may get one for myself.
If I had to guess, I bet the dog had a tick disease and it affected him neurologically.
He was nuts.
He even attacked the Bluetick bitch who lived with him, one day.
I had to go in and pull him off of her.

And yeah, replica swords are a joke.
Repros are better, if you have to have something “like that”.

Most of my swords functionally decorative.
The one I would “use”, if I had nothing else handy, was hand made by a former Army Special Forces Master Sergeant friend of ours.

Some guys will pay thru the nose for a Kimber when a more economical .45 in 1911 Gov. will work just fine? That's a personal choice, I for one find the Damascus pattern intriguing and worth the money.

The ‘husband’ was not living in the house. The boyfriend was.
The woman and boyfriend had an argument and she called her ‘husband’ who came over. After the ordeal, the woman kicked her boyfriend out.
Steel in Japan was made in the same basic way but was generally folded more times, regardless it can't really be called "Damascus" accurately.
Ugh. He should have told her to call the cops. What a mess people can make of their lives.
Japanese sword purists would have a collective nervous breakdown hearing their precious blades being described by the European slang term for pattern welding.
I just find it amusing.

I've been saying for a while that in a close-quarters situation a sword is a -very- effective weapon. Sure, guns are great. But pull a sword in a crowded room and it'll instantly become an UN-crowded room. :-)
It's too bad all he had was the stupid Zelda toy sword. If he actually had to strike anything with it, it would probably come apart in his hands. There are plenty of good serviceable and -real- swords out there, to fit any budget.
