Its what passes for Damascus now, I`ll not split hairs (pun). But by any name, I still think its very aesthetically pleasing and didn`t mind paying extra for it.

It's the same thing as calling a Ducati a "rice rocket". It's a evocative description that puts forward the correct idea but is still wildly incorrect.
Japanese sword purists would have a collective nervous breakdown hearing their precious blades being described by the European slang term for pattern welding.
I just find it amusing.
