Yeah, but try finding .22LR.
I dont think the military has switched to 40 but many govt agencies are arming their people with 40’s.
I see piles of .40 S&W in every store, but little of anything else. Where’s the damn .22 LR? Did the military buy .22 conversion kits for all their M16s?
My understanding is that the military is going back to the trusted 45 auto
Considering that the 9mm is awesome at punching holes but fairly poor at stopping power I don’t get why they wouldn’t move back to the .45, there has to be lots of ammo available and one hit usually does the job, but then again we are talking about police marksman.
They should apply for foreign assistance.
Chief Jason Edens
"The SPD will be trading in 14 used .40-caliber pistols and getting 16 new 9mm pistols. Glock will pay $300 for each trade-in, for a total cost of $2,434 for the new guns."
Glock's U.S. headquarters are in Smyrna which is less than 50 miles from the PD.
My personal belief is that using the best ammo in each, there isn’t a lot of difference between the 9mm, 40 S&W, and the .45 Auto.
I really wish I still had a Colt Delta Elite 10mm. At one time I had 3 10mms. The recoil did not bother me a bit and they were hot as all get out.
I no longer have the 10s or a .45 but feel perfectly well armed with my Browning Hi-Powers.

The United States Secret Service uses .357 SIG, as do the Federal Air Marshals.
Just sayin’.
The military is not going to the .40. If anything they are using the .10mm in the MP5 for special ops and 1911 guns in .45. But not .40.. They have a boatload of l911’s in storage that were builty between 1941 and 1950 which are brand spankin new. Never been used.
My next door neighbor is an Atlanta Police officer. He shoots about 300 rounds (45, 40, 38 and 9mm) for practice on his property every weekend. I asked him how does he get all this ammo and he stated that most stores will set aside as much ammo as they request for LEO’s.
I’m having trouble finding 380.
