Rick Perry admitted at the RGA today that he was very troubled by Obamas tone today addressing the National Governors Association:
I dont mind telling you I was a bit troubled today by the tone of the president. For the president of the United States to look Democrat and Republican governors in the eye and to say I do not trust you to make decisions in your state about issues of education, about transportation infrastructure that is really troubling.
Perry went on to say that Obama was going to hollow out the National Guard and warned the state governors not to push back against it or they would hear from him:
Democrat Governors are very concerned, I will suggest to you, about what they heard today about the Guard. I left the United States Air Force in the mid 70s, in February of 1977, as our country was going through a similar period of time of reducing the force. But those men and women who had extraordinary expertise in combat were going into the Guard and into the Reserves.
I hope were not about to make a tragic mistake in this country by hollowing out our Guard in our states in some political statement of youre all going to feel the pain. Because thats certainly what I heard from the president of the United States today.
As a matter of fact [Obama] he said in that meeting if I hear any of you pushing back, making statements about Washington spends too much money, youll hear from me.
If Im a Democrat governor, if Im a Republican governor, Im highly offended by that.
Yes it is our duty to defend the people of this country. But I will suggest that making a political statement about the Guard is not in the best long-term interest of this country and its certainly not in the best long-term interest of those men and women who have committed and often times sacrificed greatly for this country.
The answer is easy. Let the states go back to a true militia and tell DC to take a hike. It would be better all the way round. The model has and is working and it can thrive here again.
All I can say is, Maranatha, Maranatha, come quickly LORD Jesus!!!
Ted Nugent’s recent characterization of obama was much more on target. Rick Perry’s stock would have soared in my opinion if he spoke in the fearless, patriotic manner of fellow Texan Nugent.
Not a fan of his either but he has it right here.
Does Barry have the legal authority to gut a State's National Guard?
I feel the same.
If Ted Nugent ran for Governor he’d probably win, IN SPITE of the media.
Governors need to be encouraging their state legislatures to build up their STATE militias or guards.
We may need them, for a variety of reasons!
Time for states to expand their state guard units. Texas has a state guard separate from the National Guard (which can be federalized). If the Federal Government cuts back on National Guard assets, the states will have to develop their own.
I’m in.
This president thinks the Governors work for him. Wrong! The Fed works for the states and the people.
Ping.
Ping
Perry had better double his protection detail and change his cellphone at least every other day. No, I’m really not kidding.
I hear a mouse squeaking amongst the crickets and 0verlord 0bama chuckling in the background.
I would not, personally, have been able to sit there and listen to Obama say those things without leaving or verbally attacking him right on the spot.
It is time to refuse to allow this Citizen to threaten other citizens; let alone threaten entire states.
I like him too. For me, my goal is not a perfect conservative. My checklist includes: sees clearly, courageous and feisty when needed; smells stink a mile away; speaks like he knows himself.
Rick Perry has all of that to me. And he dares to call out the Marxist Narcissist? Who threatens the ELECTED Governors of this country. That buzzard.
As a matter of fact [Obama] he said in that meeting if I hear any of you pushing back, making statements about Washington spends too much money, youll hear from me.
He is threatening governors, and all they can say is that it’s upsetting. He is acting just like hitler and no one is stopping him. This is serious and no one is doing anything.
amen
