Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) thinks that the House GOP leaderships renewed push this week to grant amnesty to illegal aliens would destroy the Republican Partys chances at retaking the Senate in 2014. Cruz questioned how establishment Republicans unilaterally caving to Democrats on everything from the farm bill to the budget to the debt ceiling and more could think amnesty is a good idea at this time. "Right now, Republican leadership in both chambers is aggressively urging members to stand down on virtually every front: on the continuing resolution, on the budget, on the farm bill, on the debt ceiling, Cruz said in a statement provided exclusively to Breitbart News on Thursday. He continued: They may or may not be right, but their argument is that we should focus exclusively on Obamacare and on jobs. In that context, why on earth would the House dive into immigration right now? It makes no sense, unless you're Harry Reid. Republicans are poised for an historic election this fall--a conservative tidal wave much like 2010. The biggest thing we could do to mess that up would be if the House passed an amnesty bill--or any bill perceived as an amnesty bill--that demoralized voters going into November. Rather than responding to the big-money lobbying on K Street, we need to make sure working-class Americans show up by the millions to reject Obamacare and vote out the Democrats. Amnesty will ensure they stay home. Cruz added that granting amnesty now--while wrong in his opinion at any time--would ensure Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid remains in his position in after the 2014 elections.

I LIKE that! Very cool
The GOPe want the immigration issue to go away and the amnesty pimp $$$ to come in. Their miscalculation is the Dems never give up an issue. If amnesty passes blue state GOPers will become a rare breed. Their base will abandon them and the Dems will scoop up the seats.
I will work against any Republican that supports law-breaking.
Yep. I think he’s the only one with a brain in his head.
Sure the deal is real. What do you expect from coward RINOs who value their second-tier power and control over the welfare of their constituents? It is precisely because of Boehner, Cantor, Ryan, McConnell, McCain, Rubio, Alexander, and a host of other coward Republicans that I am not likely to EVER vote for a big R Republican again.
Hope I will be lucky enough to vote for him someday here in the Pacific Northwest.
They misread the 2012 elections. They lost because conservatives stayed home. Hispanics voting for pandering Republicans is a dream by them, and a scam perpetrated on them by the likes of ROVE and other money grubbing WRONG consultants.
The GOP is living up to its nickname, the Stupid Party.
Have no fear, Harry- Cornyn will come rushing to your aid! You can count on him to screw those wascally conservatives.
Did you see Boehner on Leno? Oy VEY!
Very scary that this guy is what was chosen to lead our (supposed) side. I cannot stand Bill Maher but he was on Leno last night and comes off as more intelligent than Boehner....despite Maher being dead wrong and gross to boot.
Amen. Amen fella! Right now, there isn’t a Republican that I personally am going to vote for. That includes either of my Senators, or Congressman.
bttt
That strategy certainly worked well in ‘08 and ‘12....
I don't think Republican Senators with just a handful of exceptions (Mike Lee, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Jeff Sessions, and a few others) want to represent us. Some like Mikorski got there dishonestly by going against the primary vote. Others.....McCain, Flake, Ayotte particularly, bare-a**ed lied to constitutional conservatives to get elected then did their elitist thing. The Repulican female Senators act more like a quilting club than as serious leaders.
I don't think they want power. They seem to want things to go through them so they can have some say in choosing the winners and losers. They're arrogant and disconnected. A majority might force them to engage in trying to solve problems. Yeah, I think they'd just as soon be a minority and work with Obama for a share of the bounty for their cronies.
They are doing it for money, and they WANT it done when they are not in control of the Senate.
My goodness, I’ve grown to admire Ted Cruz more with each passing day. I’m very proud he represents my family and the citizens of Texas in Washington, DC.
Senator Cruz, you’re a good man. A man’s man. Know that you are an inspiration to all of us red-blooded Americans.
The Republicans ought to consider what the Simson-Mazzoli amnesty of 1986 did to their hopes and dreams in California. Up until that time, California usually went Republican in presidential elections, and the GOP held the state house for 72 years during the period between the Spanish-American War and the Kosovo War. Now the state is irretrievably “blue,” and the California Republican Party is moribund.
