Maui County police says the late state health director Loretta Fuddy died due to cardiac arrhythmia as a result of stress after a Makani Kai Air plane crashed off of Molokai last month.
An arrhythmia is a problem with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat.
Fuddy's death has been ruled as accidental.
On Dec. 11, the plane lost power off of Kalaupapa. Nine people were on board the plane including Fuddy. The pilot and seven other passengers survived the crash.
The pilot and a passenger who swam to shore have said Fuddy appeared fine while bobbing in the water after everyone exited the plane and waited for help to arrive.
Fuddy's brother, Lewis Fuddy, says she was healthy and didn't have any known heart problems.

Last bit I read was that the family REFUSED to confirm that she will NOT be cremated.

I have had cardiac Arrhythmias since my army service. I was playing French Horn in the 74th Army Band and I would feel “fluttering” in my heart. A trip to the base hospital confirmed both Bradycardia (slow beating)and Tachycardia (excessively fast beating) along with a complete right bundle branch block.
I knew that something wasn’t right with my heart as I was always tired and had endurance problems running even though I could walk all day long.
Since the heart problems started in the Army and were first diagnosed there I was given a “Service Connected Disability” for them.
That was the guy.
Obama arrives on the 21st.
Autopsy done in Hawaii.
Obama goes back to DC.
Autopsy results released.
Everyone but the person who knew her best. He was holding hands with her. No usually done in professional relationships. Did she tell him she felt light headed? What’s in his report ? Wonder if he’ll make it back from his “planned vacation”?

Thanks for the Ping. I too, found it ironic that the Director of the HDOH would have such an obviously high BMI. Of course, she also (according to her brother, per the link LucyT helpfully provided) had no known heart problems.

If that was the case most families might keep quiet about the good health so not to fuel conspiracy theories. Maybe bro knows some hearsay or secondary evidense from his sister Were they close? Close enough to be confidants?
The only certainty is that she didn’t die in the crash or was left in the fuselage. (thanks to GoPro film-guy)
