If you doubt there's an unwritten code of honor among criminals -- governing certain behavior that's just not permitted -- consider this:
Police say a burglar in southern Spain who stole an old Super 8 camera and tapes from a home discovered to his horror the graphic video content of a man sexually abusing boys.
The burglar put three tapes in a brown envelope, hid them under a parked car, and then called police from a public phone, directing them to go find it.
Inside the envelope, police found a note with the home address of the suspected pedophile and a message from the burglar:
"I've had the misfortune that these tapes have fallen into my hands and I feel obligated to turn them in so that you can do your job and put that (expletive) in prison for life."
Spanish national police confirmed Thursday they arrested a 64-year-old suspected child molester this week at his home -- the one that had been burglarized -- in the southern provincial capital of Jaen.

There is some honor among thieves!
Lord works in mysterious ways ping! ;-)
The lesser form of filth, but good on him.
Someone with knowledge about these things....would these tapes be admissible as evidence in this country?
Wow! A brand new way to frame someone! I’m adding this to my Dirty Tricks notebook.
Under the Rules of Evidence in most states and in Federal Court they come in. No 4th amendment violation as the burglar was not acting on behalf of the government. The question is how much weight a jury would give them.
Well, if I’m reading the article correctly, the arrested man is also the man in the video. Seems like that would make for a pretty tight case.
I knew a guy who went to jail for a bit. He told me, (and I’d never had thought of it) that the guys in jail are a lot of times just there because they didn’t know how to get money and needed it.
Okay, not nice, but...he said that these men often had wives and kids, sometimes that was the reason for the crime. They did not like the kind of guy who would abuse or hurt a child.
Well, this guy sounds like a right guy. Hope he can find another way to make a living.
And I hope they are not dusting for prints.
The truth beat the pi$$ out of fiction.. Yessirreeee.. :)
It’s in Spain.
They say they are looking for the thief, I doubt they are looking very hard. I would not.
I’m sure Lawdoc knows it’s in Spain. But I asked about this country. See Post #5.
Ah. *nevermind*
You can’t “frame” someone who is on video abusing a child. This isn’t photoshop.
“There is some honor among thieves!”
I used to psychologically test and counsel mainly career criminals who were let out of prison. They do have standards - anyone molesting children or harming old people would not have a good prison experience.
In that case - who knows :)
Child molesters exist at the very bottom of the “pecking order” in prison.
They are often housed in segregation to keep the inmates in general
population from killing them.
An offense bad enough to make a skunk vomit!
