Can the Robertsons tell A&E that they don’t want the next season shown? That would be a bigger financial hit to the network than to the family.
A question of some interest is: when were the episodes taped? Given the lead time required for the interview to hit the shelves, wasn’t A&E quite well aware of the content of the interview while taping was still going on? If so, it sounds like they never intended for there to be much of a real suspension at all... we shall see what happens when filming begins for the next season.
The Daily Mail said today that an A&E representative was present when GQ interviewed Phil and approved of the content being published. That is pretty strong evidence that they were in on the stunt...knowing full well that a firestorm would be coming.
A brief suspension of Phil would show some sensitivity to GLAAD (and provide a wee bit of plausible deniability) and the DD franchise would roar on to even great viewership and brand loyalty.
Yep. He tapped into the psyche of his audience. This was all a farce.
Yeah, KingU mentioned the re-run aspect. Sounds about right.
Like you said, it will be interesting to see them air the shows with him in them.
This whole flap sure has gotten the show out there, so that many more people have heard about it now.
I will boycott AE... but I will watch new DD episodes if Phil wants me to.

A&E is that dishonest, but I don’t think Phil R. would use his religious beliefs in that way. IMO, A&E is already backing down with GLAAD by showing the new episodes previously filmed and leaving Phil in ... it’s an ‘easy’ way out of this mess for them to keep the ka-ching coming. What I’m interested in is if DD continues on A&E with new filming ... that is where the feathers meet the road ... or not.
Principles? Haahahhahahahah - funny. A good number of "conservatives" don't have any principles whatsoever. Why they even vocally and viciously support anti-gun, pro-abort, pro-fag "marriage," pro-socialized medicine, big government liberals for president - you know, because he's the lesser of two evils, or their guy with an (R) after his name.
Of course skipping meals at Packer Barrel or turning off the teevee is a difficult, hand ringing decision.
I suppose I need to turn on the tv and watch this program sometimes so I will know what in the heck is being discussed here—LOL!
I’m so not into tv except for a very few channels, such as Pickers and Pawn Stars-—those high class shows—LOL!
Phil's a smart cookie despite his long beard. He had to have known that he was playing with fire (just quoting the Bible is going to ruffle some feathers).
That said, I don't think it is particularly dishonest on the part of A&E...just a clever publicity stunt.
It's business after all.
This is why were in a mess, not just a Democrat problem. See it in my own Family. They will take this and say. boy we really showed them as they settle back into their big chair with the channel changer, and make plans to eat at Cracker Barrel.

Oh, most certainly.
But in this digital age if offensive imagery of “mean Phil” were such an issue for them I can’t see how it would be a huge undertaking to edit it out. I can do it at home on my laptop in minutes. They have plenty of other footage with which to replace it with if they deemed it so very necessary.
Sounds more like A&E isn’t gonna have much of a choice!!
Go to youtube and search for Duck Dynasty. You won't get complete episodes, but you'll get enough clips to understand what they're all about.

That does not comport with him saying the exact same things, in less explicit language, before different church congragtions and groups.

I’m not sure what the situation is at Cracker Barrel, I read on Fox Nation that CB was getting rid of Duck Dynasty products, and keeping Duck Commander products. My understanding is that DD proceeds go to A&E (Hearst & Disney) and that DC proceeds go to the Robertsons. That would indicate CB would be supporting Phil. I’m not really clear on this, the wording of the article wasn’t clear. I stop at CB occasionally while on the road but I can always find a place to eat. Does anyone know what CB is doing?
