Cable is to TV what the dial up is to online access.
We no longer need Cable to see what we want and when we want to.
Streaming TV allows us to dump cable.
Get a Roku or a Smart TV.
Get Netflix for $8.00 and Hulu Plus for $12.
And stations such as METV even stream on local sub channels that you can access for free!
with 4 tvs this is gonna be fun /s
Encore, Stars, the Movie Channel, showtime, ....they all have multiple channels and no commercials, and with DVR boxes I can skip commercials on the other channels too.
Just tune in 10 minutes after start and FF past the commercials.
I’m wondering how many sports events you can get online. I only watch news, sports, and movies.
Funny. I have never had a problem with Comcast. At all.
FiOs around here sucks. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My worst enemy? Sure. because I'm a nasty piece of work.
I haven’t had cable since 2005.
bump
Thefirstrow.eu. Not hd but it beats paying the cable company.
And EVERY show is on the internet for free anyway.
I have an OTA (Over-The-Air) HDTV antenna that's good for 300 miles on top of my ham radio tower. I can turn it in any direction, pick up a TON of channels.
Also have a Roku to get Netflix ($8/mo.) and Hulu Plus ($8/mo.) and between the OTA and Netflix and Hulu we find plenty of good QUALITY content to watch.
That is funny. I have had Comcast for nearly 40 years and have never had a problem. I got a smart tv last Christmas. I have been listening to Christmas music on 841. Have not even used the smart part. One of these days. My daughter uses it when she comes down. Has anyone heard a song, 12 days of Christmas which has the one gift being a Japanese transistor radio? Very odd. A guy named Sherman sings it. Had never heard it before or him.
You can get ALL sports events online for free- but the quality is awful- like the old rabbit ears days.
Unless you live in the boonies you can get excellent video of broadcast events on a cheap antenna though.
Oh, You are just a wise apple... ...you sound like a Comcast assistant yourself.
Comcast is terrible here, equipment is crap, online TV guide is unusable and heaven help you if you have to call them for any reason. They will tell you that they dont give a crap about you.
They actually cut my cable line while working on my neighbors cable then make me wait days for them to come look at it, then make me take the day off waiting for them.
Many times the technician went away leaving it broke, once even worse than when he got there.
My only conclusion is that they HATE their customers or they wouldnt hire such clueless arrogant robots.

BFL
I have to watch The Walking Dead. Can I get that in some way besides on satellite?
1) "Cable" (television programming)
2) Internet (Use mostly for web browsing (FF & IE Explorer)
3) Phone service
Roku replaces #1 by accessing it via #2 (streaming TV (Hulu, Netflix, Crackle, etc). #1 can then be canceled, saving some people $80ish/mo.
Thanks. And I DO live in the boonies. ;)
Ok. Help me out here. I am going to get a SmarTV and don’t want cable or satellite. I can get Roku and Hulu which will let me watch all the movies and television shows I want, anytime I want. How about Fox News? Is there a way to stream that?
There has to be some Conservatives with some moolah to fund a Conservative channel. Why haven’t they done it?
Two words.....GOOGLE Fiber
