Bush Booed During Mandela Memorial
White House Dossier ^ | 12/10/2013 | Keith Koffler

Posted on 12/10/2013 12:57:09 PM PST by Hoodat

A sterling example of the maxim, no good deed goes unpunished.

Former President George W. Bush was booed when he appeared on the video monitor at today’s memorial for Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg, South Africa, according to the White House pool report, which cited local press outlets.

Meanwhile, when the images President Obama and Michelle popped up, there was a 30-second “deafening roar,” the pooler wrote.

How sad. Bush has done an far greater amount for South Africa than Obama. But Obama is much better at crafting his public image and saying the right things.

Bush personally saved the lives of millions of South Africans with his President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR, ensuring AIDS drugs are available to South Africa’s impoverished masses.

From a Washington Post piece describing how Bush’s achievements were haunting Obama’s June trip to South Africa:

In South Africa, the success ( of PEPFAR) was extraordinary. AIDS killed roughly 2.3 million in South Africa — once one of the worst-affected countries in the world — and orphaned about a million children there, according to the United Nations. Today, rates of infection have fallen to 30 percent, and nearly 2 million people are on antiretroviral drugs.

Meanwhile, Obama has cut PEPFAR funding and generally been his customary inattentive self. From the same Post piece:
AIDS advocates on Sunday said that Obama administration budget cuts that have slashed hundreds of millions of dollars from PEPFAR threaten to turn back years of progress . . .

Just like normal Republicans do good and they get nothing but boos from those on the Left. This is the thanks that Bush gets now.

Bush was praised by the Washington Compost for giving billions to South Africa.

George W. Bush’s greatest legacy
By Eugene Robinson,July 26, 2012

This is a moment for all Americans to be proud of the best thing George W. Bush did as president: launching an initiative to combat AIDS in Africa that has saved millions of lives.

All week, more than 20,000 delegates from around the world have been attending the 19th International AIDS Conference here in Washington. They look like any other group of conventioneers, laden with satchels and garlanded with name tags. But some of these men and women would be dead if not for Bush’s foresight and compassion.

Those are not words I frequently use to describe Bush or his presidency. But credit and praise must be given where they are due, and Bush’s accomplishment — the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, or PEPFAR — deserves accolades. It is a reminder that the United States can still be both great and good.

When the Bush administration inaugurated the program in 2003, fewer than 50,000 HIV-infected people on the African continent were receiving the antiretroviral drugs that keep the virus in check and halt the progression toward full-blown AIDS. By the time Bush left office, the number had increased to nearly 2 million. Today, the United States is directly supporting antiretroviral treatment for more than 4 million men, women and children worldwide, primarily in Africa.

This is an amazing accomplishment, especially because it wasn’t supposed to be possible.

Obama is a liar and THEY can keep our LIAR. Period.

The sad part the ignoramuses of the world reward this LIAR of ours. Shameful. Reminds me of the rapture the fools felt for Hitler during the 1930s.

You know, I’ll ust come out and say it, without any concern, or apologies...

Black in this country (for the most part, not all, but most) want segregation back in vogue...they want us white people to have our little nitch, and us to continue to feed and cloth them, provide them all the Obamaphones and big screen TV’s and all the amenities, while they sit back and enjoy Oprah and all the other nonsense they enjoy watching...

Since that is what they want, they foment racism at EVERY turn in todays social and civil processes...

I say we let it go and give it to them...Then cut them off...

I’m only putting this together because that is what I see as to what they really want...

I’ve been called worse things than a racist...So I hope my candor is not misconstrued, or seen as something other than an honest analysis, with a solution to the overall issue...

Considering the “intelligence” of the typical s. African black, I’d say this is not unusual. They heard Bush was against raping babies.

I thought there was a lot of poor blacks walking around with placards about Obama drone strike last time he was down there.

everything you wrote I agree 100%. I would say any decent “aware” conservative would agree too.

Color trumps all with most people, unless the color has a hint of decency or conservatism.

Thatcher was the first woman PM of the UK and a staunch US ally. Obama wouldn’t go to her funeral. Democrats are full of you know what.

That article says more about the state of our political elites at the top of both “major” parties than just about anything else I’ve seen. Something very, very bad.

I just finish a post with a FR who did not like my America First strategy of foreign policy and defense. He thinks like a neocon and the US should use their power for good even if it means war. Anyone who disagrees is called an isolationist or peacenik who intends to make the US a third rate military power at great peril. Seems like neocon never heard of armed neutrality. The US with the largest economy should have a military befitting its size and needs. But sending our men butting into internal affairs of nations and attacking countries that have never attacked us is different. Even foreign aid. You think the Third World turds appreciate our efforts. Billions to Africa, Israel, Pakistan, Middle East,UN, Latin America, etc etc and yet nothing for our cities and busted pensions???!!!! I hope freepers see the video of GWB being booed. Next time a neocon opens his mouth, tell him to shut up and take his hands off my wallet. If he wants to fight, he suit up, buy a gun and go himself.

racism runs deep in some places in the world. Bush has given so much to Africa, and Obama so little, but skin color overruled common sense and decency. This is the world we live in now.

Jesus said in the Last Days, What’s right will be wrong, and what’s wrong will be right”

Those days are upon us

I agree that it’s not necessarily skin color, but politics.....The Left has so brainwashed the masses, that accept that conservatives are bad and leftists are good.

As a conservative, I’m not a big fan of former President George W. Bush and resented that he didn’t attend Margaret Thatcher’s funeral.

****

How many current and former presidents and heads of state attended Margaret Thatcher’s funeral?

The Days of the End are upon us, and the day of The Revealing of Jesus will soon overtake us like a thief in the night. But that’s OK, I am good with my salvation and my relationship with the Lord. I have empathy for those who hate God, hate others and seek to kill and destroy those who do good. But Jesus said these days would happen. Rejoice and look up, for our Salvation draws near
