In The Washington Post, Jonathan Zimmerman, a history professor from NYU, has written an article claiming that all of America’s problems would be soloved–GET THIS–if only we would allow Barack Obama to run for a third term!
He wants to amend the Constitution and abolish presidential term limits.
Zimmerman writes that Obama–whose approval rating is at an all time low of 37%–would be much more effective at governing if he could stand for re-election in 2016 because then he’d be less likely to “ignore” the will of the American people. “It’s time to put that power back where it belongs,” he writes. “Barack Obama should be allowed to stand for re election just as citizens should be allowed to vote for — or against — him. Anything less diminishes our leaders and ourselves.”
We don’t know whether to shake our head in disbelief, or burst out laughing.
This professor admits that only a third of Americans approve of the job Obama is doing in office, yet he wants us to believe that we’d be better off if he were able to be president until the year 2020–and beyond?
That’s some strange logic.
Just one week ago, the very same newspaper ran a story predicting that if the 2012 election were held now, Mitt Romney would win the White House, not Obama.
Right now, this country has a serious case of voter’s remorse. Therefore the timing for this call for a potential third Obama term couldn’t be worse.
If we were going to go to the trouble of amending the Constitution, I think more Americans would be interested in adding the power to recall this president than would be interested in giving him a third term.

He’s more than accomplshed that with his second term. We’re probavly going to learn later that Professor Zimmerman’s wife isa friend of Hillary, Moochie, or any otherMuslim that has infiltrated the WH and that the Obama administration put him up to it after paying him a heavy consulting fee....

I agree 100%...many of us called this one long ago. He will do as he damn well pleases and the peasants will like it. The ONLY thing in his way is that the Clintons will suddenly decide they LIKE that part of the Constitution.

Hell, if they want to do that, why bother with amending the Constitution? Just tear the thing up and declare Obama dictator for life. It's not like there isn't plenty of precedent around the globe for the past umpteen thousand years. The Founders hoped to avoid that kind of crap here, but in reality the only thing stopping a would-be dictator is the will of the people to resist that kind of crap.
My fear for America is that too many people would indeed be perfectly okay with a dictator. Just as in the time of the Founders, a large percentage of colonists wanted an American king. Scares the hell out of me, I'll tell ya.
In order to be VP under the Constitution, you have to be eligible to be President. So BO could not be VP. (Of course, they could disregard the Constitution, but then why not just leave the ticket the way it is?)

This learned academician of highest integrity more than likely has a grant request submitted to the government to feather his bed even further. He knows outright no one or anyone can take his assertion with any credence.
It is just shameless promotion for publish, get granted or die.

The professor obviously believes he and his will be exempt from future “Laws of the Land” and be moved to the head of the elite list.
