Hannity Suggests ‘Third Party’ to Sarah Palin, Who Won’t Rule Out 2014 Senate Run
Mediaite ^ | October 16, 2013 | Andrew Kirell

On his radio show Tuesday evening, Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin lamented the current state of the Republican Party and both wondered aloud whether the time is nigh to form a third party for disillusioned conservatives.

“There’s no difference between the two parties, at this point,” Hannity asserted. At another point during the interview, Palin suggested the president’s actions on the debt ceiling have, thus far, been “impeachable” offenses. The two discussed whether it’s plausible to jump ship to a third party now that the GOP has seemingly “abandoned” both of them and their followers.

Later on during the discussion, Hannity mentioned to Palin that there is much speculation about her upcoming speech in the caucus state of Iowa. Some have suggested she’s gearing up for a 2014 Alaskan senatorial challenge against incumbent Democrat Mark Begich; others are wondering whether she intends to throw her hat into the ring for 2016.

“Are any of these things in your mind at all? Or is this just nonsense?” Hannity asked. Palin’s somewhat dodgy response [emphasis added]:

Not sounding cliché or flighty on this or anything, Sean, my mission is to help the good guys who are in there wanting to make a difference. I don’t know if that entails me holding a position, having a title. Sometimes the title shackles you, and you’re not free to get out there and do what needs to be done. Look, Ronald Reagan said — and I shared this with the vets on Sunday at the World War II memorial — I said that Ronald Reagan reminded us that some people live an entire lifetime wondering if they ever made a difference in the world. Our vets and those who are supportive of our vets which, to me, is very symbolic of all that really matters in this country at this point, the priorities in our government. Our vets and their supporters, they need not ask of themselves whether they made a difference. They’ve made all the difference. What I want to do is make a difference. And I don’t know if that would require me to have a title.

Got that?

[Ed. note: The headline has been updated to reflect the fact that it seems Hannity and Palin were solely discussing the 2014 Alaskan senate race, and not the 2016 presidential primaries.]

I'm thinking that the RINOs are so delusional that they don't realize that they've destroyed the Republican Party. Conservatives will never vote for the RINOs as the "lesser of two evils" again.

The way I feel now is that we're going down anyway as a nation, let Obama own the mess he's created.

The football analogy is good. She could also be the defense coordinator.

Caught snippets of Hannity talking to Bill Cunningham today earlier too, Cunningham is an Ohio-based talk show host who has known Boehner for a long time.

Gee, why doesn’t Sean ask his Good Friend, The Architect Brother Rove what he thinks about a Conservative Third Party?

Well, I assume it’s accepted on FR. Hell, send Cruz an email!

He seems to be the leader, he and Palin. Lets get this ball rollin’!

I catch Hannity’s radio show often, I can’t even remember the last time Karl Rove was on there. He’s on Fox alright from time to time but haven’t seen him on Hannity’s show, gee, Hannity has been making news as much as anyone talking about a 3rd party, Breitbart posted a story on him.

Today is a sad day for freedom. Now I know how the French Felt when the Nazis marched into Paris—their leaders had failed them. Today I feel like wearing sack cloth and ashes—to drap the American Flag in Black—as if in mourning. It is a mourning too for an America that is now dead. Obama and his minions has won—and this protends a Democrat Victory in 2014—Nancy P. as Speaker again and a bid to give Obama a 3rd Term (that or a clone of Obama to continue the Progressive Agenda—President Van Jones, or maybe Michelle Obama—Or Hillary to pardon and keep the cover up). I fear there will be more accidents and strange deaths coming. Now the torch of freedom must go to Sarah Palin. She has a choice. A) Bold the Party and start a new party—the Freedom Party or B) Run for Senate and stand with Ted Cruz and Mike Lee, or C) be a spokesman for liberty until she has an “accident”, a plane crash or auto wreck. Maybe a health problem we know nothing about. Its up to her. The Thuggery has won.

I can’t believe Hannity is sincere about forming a Conservative Third Party.

He strikes me as more of a showman than anything else.

The only way to do this, is to get a bunch of current congress critters to make a 3rd party ... It must be done from the inside. It will fail if done from the outside.

And it can't just be at the federal level. It has to include state and local politicians. I think much of the grassroots would migrate anyway, and probably a fair amount of the big money. The key is to get the Republican party infrastructure to move away from the dark side.

This is a major challenge, but the sentiment is definitely strong enough that it is possible. If the ball were to start rolling, I think the tipping point would be reached fairly quickly.

She's already doing defense coordination. I want to see her suit up and throw the ball.

Yeah, who would win a senate seat and then start running for the presidency the next day? That’s nuts!

Well, you're nuts if you think our side can get away with pulling an Obama.

Sarah isn’t going to run. She is just a tease on this matter.

Otherwise, she isn’t too bad. A lot better than many.

For a decade here at FR I scoffed at suggestions for a “turd party”. Not any more.
If genuine conservatives like Palin, Cruz, Lee, McClintock, and other tea party conservatives make the move, sign me up.

Again, I concur. You are exactly correct IMHO.

Hey, but what do I know.

Your thinking is logical, but Rove would disagree.
