Hannity Suggests ‘Third Party’ to Sarah Palin, Who Won’t Rule Out 2014 Senate Run
Mediaite ^ | October 16, 2013 | Andrew Kirell

On his radio show Tuesday evening, Sean Hannity and Sarah Palin lamented the current state of the Republican Party and both wondered aloud whether the time is nigh to form a third party for disillusioned conservatives.

“There’s no difference between the two parties, at this point,” Hannity asserted. At another point during the interview, Palin suggested the president’s actions on the debt ceiling have, thus far, been “impeachable” offenses. The two discussed whether it’s plausible to jump ship to a third party now that the GOP has seemingly “abandoned” both of them and their followers.

Later on during the discussion, Hannity mentioned to Palin that there is much speculation about her upcoming speech in the caucus state of Iowa. Some have suggested she’s gearing up for a 2014 Alaskan senatorial challenge against incumbent Democrat Mark Begich; others are wondering whether she intends to throw her hat into the ring for 2016.

“Are any of these things in your mind at all? Or is this just nonsense?” Hannity asked. Palin’s somewhat dodgy response [emphasis added]:

Not sounding cliché or flighty on this or anything, Sean, my mission is to help the good guys who are in there wanting to make a difference. I don’t know if that entails me holding a position, having a title. Sometimes the title shackles you, and you’re not free to get out there and do what needs to be done. Look, Ronald Reagan said — and I shared this with the vets on Sunday at the World War II memorial — I said that Ronald Reagan reminded us that some people live an entire lifetime wondering if they ever made a difference in the world. Our vets and those who are supportive of our vets which, to me, is very symbolic of all that really matters in this country at this point, the priorities in our government. Our vets and their supporters, they need not ask of themselves whether they made a difference. They’ve made all the difference. What I want to do is make a difference. And I don’t know if that would require me to have a title.

Got that?

[Ed. note: The headline has been updated to reflect the fact that it seems Hannity and Palin were solely discussing the 2014 Alaskan senate race, and not the 2016 presidential primaries.]

Well, somebody better do something. After today, I am totally finished with the GOP for good. I’m taking my “brand” and riding off into the sunset. If Cruz or Palin run for something that I’m allowed to vote for, I’ll vote. If not, I’m through.

I believe Palin would show the world how "over his head" Mark Begich really is.

The only Alaskans I hear bad mouthing Palin as a quitter are Dems that never supported her in the first place. Palin is the only political I'd ever support with any bucks.

We now have confirmation the the vaunted “two party system” consists of Fascist and Fascist Collaborator.

Where does that leave a Constitutionalist?

The only way to do this, is to get a bunch of current congress critters to make a 3rd party.

It must be done from the inside. It will fail if done from the outside.

Make a TEA party, with all the conservatives with an R hanging around their neck join up.

Then, we’re getting somewhere.

Let the GOPe wallow in their own muck.

With a home in Arizona, couldn’t she challenge McCain or whatshisname?

“Conservative” Hannity is arguably trying to divide conservatives.

Exactly. I don’t know what the answer is but the buffoons on the hill sold out America today. Next, they’ll be sticking another knife in our back with their goofy amnesty BS. Then comes that pesky Second Amendment. We can kiss that goodbye. I knew a second term for Barry was suicide for America but I didn’t know we’d be tortured first.

She could, but that if she won she'd be out of contention for the presidential election in 2016.

For my money, Palin is still the best QB on our bench, and we'd be crazy to ask her to serve in the back field for six years. Of course, she could still run for the White House in 2016 anyway, but that would just start up the whole quitter meme again.

No thanks!

Isn't she a little old to be enlisting?

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but would it make sense to do something now? Is there a way to organize related threads on FR aside from using keywords? And is this type of activism acceptable on FR?

Yeah, who would win a senate seat and then start running for the presidency the next day? That’s nuts!

we need to learn to pick our battles more wisely. Gun control works because it’s a smart battle. We can win that fight for another 30 years and possibly forever. The debt ceiling, like it or not, was not a smart battle. I think immigration can be a smart battle if we play it right- tie it to entitlements, welfare, and Obamacare.

The debt limit can only currently be increased if Congress affirmatively votes to raise it and the president signs it into law. During Congress’ last debt limit debate in 2011, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R - KY) wanted to invert this process by making it automatic, unless Congress voted against it and the president did not veto it. Theoretically, Congress could override a veto, but given the current makeup of both chambers that would be nearly impossible.....this is what will happen.......we need A THIRD PARTY.....NOW. Those 142 reps in the House should promise to start a third party unless the debt ceiling is LOWERED in February.
