WASHINGTON Congressional Republicans conceded defeat on Wednesday in their bitter budget fight with President Obama over the new health care law as the House and Senate approved last-minute legislation ending a disruptive 16-day government shutdown and extending federal borrowing power to avert a financial default with potentially worldwide economic repercussions.
With the Treasury Department warning that it could run out of money to pay national obligations within a day, the Senate voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday evening, 81 to 18, to approve a proposal hammered out by the chambers Republican and Democratic leaders after the House on Tuesday was unable to move forward with any resolution. The House followed suit a few hours later, voting 285 to 144 to approve the Senate plan, which would fund the government through Jan. 15 and raise the debt limit through Feb. 7.

how can that number be true?
we were told by the president and the democrats there were only 15 or so radical terrorists holding the Republican party hostage.

I hope so, the troll has been lurking around for a while since it got outed a week or so ago. It’s indicative of how petty these people are (from The Thug In Chief on down) that it hangs around a conservative message board just to make a trollish nuisance of itself. I don’t know why, but it’s been difficult lately to get rid of these trolls.
Anyway, can’t wait till he, like the rest of us, watches his premiums go up every year (might not be merely annually when the Thug In Chief is done redistributing), but for all he is forced to fork out, he still can’t get access to a DR or any kind of healthcare. Apparently he hasn’t been keeping up with what’s happening with Britain’s NHS, the model beloved of American commies. Or that Canadians in need of drastic care either die waiting or come here if they have the means. Well yippee, the dream is upon us here! That is, if enough people (especially healthy young people) can, or will, enroll in this Kermit Gosnell’s dream.
And that’s not even starting on all the tangential nigjtmares, like identity theft (of you can actually access the site, it’s probably a phishing site), or the government having all our data at its fingertips in order to make its decisions as to who is loyal and should live, who is disloyal and should die. He’d say that’s a tinfoil conspiracy, willfully ignoring exactly what just happened with the IRS.
LOL and Thank You.
Ineffective choices and methods doesn’t necessarily signify the abandonment of one’s principles.
We must stop pushing the rope.
No, he was outed by another Freeper and myself a couple of weeks ago (posting history going back years on KOS). Another troll who didn’t get the zot for some unknown reason. It’s all in another thread.
You’re welcome.
This is how amnesty will also pass.
Time to primary that asshole Mike Simpson. We have candidate to run against him already. This vote seals his fate as a RINO.
But in reality the enemy won hardly anything.
They got only a couple months' reprieve. Reid and Obama didn't want to deal with this again so soon; they wanted to put it off for a year. They also have given up on the sequester. Plus they had to succumb to income verification on O-care.
They really didn't get much out of the this deal regardless of how the Goebbels media is pretending they did.
Grassroots doesn't realize all this of course. They allow the MSM to tell them there was a massive failure when in reality the bill is mostly neutral.
According to the GOPe, it’s never the “right” time to fight for anything.
I just realized my congressman from the 4th district TN did not vote NO
What happened to Scott Desjarlais ???
“Ryan Black Clyborn Lowey to serve on a special budget committee and one other name I missed.”
Oh goody, more political theater.
The debt limit can only currently be increased if Congress affirmatively votes to raise it and the president signs it into law. During Congress’ last debt limit debate in 2011, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R - KY) wanted to invert this process by making it automatic, unless Congress voted against it and the president did not veto it. Theoretically, Congress could override a veto, but given the current makeup of both chambers that would be nearly impossible.
BE CAREFULLLLLLLLLL
Two can play that game. I’m sure Daily Kos and Democrat Underground could use some stirring up, especially now with “Commiecare”, as you refer to it, coming online.
Liberals have no common sense. When it comes to obamacare, it cannot work. It will destroy our current health care system. It redistributes wealth while doing so. Don’t even get me started on the loss of privacy. It’s frightening.
We spent 24 billion on a shutdown so we can get income verification. You think that’s a victory? Obama and Reid were never serious about sequester rollbacks. That was just thrown out there and promptly dropped for the sake of “negotiations”. A few more of these victories and we’ll bankrupt this nation. If we would have gotten at least a debt plan to balance the budget or entitlement reform, it’d be worth it but we’ve just spent enough cash for income verification we may as well have just not done anything about waste and fraud in Obamacare.
My scumbag, Mike Fitzpatrick, caved.
It’s a thought, but my blood pressure can’t take the sewer tsunami of lies and filth.
I refuse to go near a CommieCare site or anything which resembles one, first because I have no intention of enrolling, no matter what, so I have no curiosity. Second, because it’s a sure-enough way to make myself open to identity theft and/or fraud. Third, because who has time to wait long enough for spiders to spin webs while they wait to get through? And fourth, because I do my best to resist/not comply with anything the government wants me to do, to the best of my ability.
