Talks between House Speaker John Boehner and President Barack Obama over the government shutdown and looming debt limit deadline have hit a brick wall.
Boehner relayed the news to his Republican caucus during a Saturday morning meeting after a night of work where little progress was made. Republican Rep. Paul Labrador of Idaho emerged from the meeting, telling CNN that "the President rejected our deal."
The standstill has decreased the possibility that the House would vote to reopen the government this weekend and while leadership would remain in Washington to work on a proposal, rank-and-file members might return to their districts until Monday afternoon.

This has been 5 years or longer in the making.
Every 0bama budget that has been proposed has been soundly rejected, even by democrats. Why? And were was the reproposals?
I got to thinking about this early this morning. If the democrats are so behind 0bama now...why would they have rejected the previous budgets and opted to run on a CR for YEARS?
The more I consider how things look, the more hindsight...
I think Ted Cruz et al, fell into the progressive trap on this. We’ve been seriously punked.
Here is a suggestion: tell the half breed half wit fine, we are going home, I am adjourning Congress. If you wish to contact me, call my neighbors number and maybe they will be able to find me...
When you’re dealing with the Kenyan, you better get what YOU want before you give him anything. He’s a dishonest liar who can’t be trusted. I definitely would not buy a used car from him.
Emailed my House rep. and Cruz. Cornyn has heard from me enough that my messages are shunted straight to circular file.
“I got to thinking about this early this morning. If the democrats are so behind 0bama now...why would they have rejected the previous budgets and opted to run on a CR for YEARS?”
And the real question is why aren’t the Republicans pointing this out to the American people at every chance they get, instead of staying silent — most people have no idea we’ve been running on CR.
They are just marking time so that they can retire with their fat pensions, fat health care, their fat, personal political war-chests and live happily ever after in the land they betrayed.
I have often said that you could stuff all 535 of them in a blender, pour them out, and you wouldn't fine one gonad to make one man.
Pl;ease understand that if we don’t raise HELL the senate is going to send a total defeat to the house and Boehner will allow a discharge petition and allow 20 rinos to vote with 200 Dems to cram this down on us.We must stop Boehner from changing the current resolution that only he can bring any bill for a vote. If he waives that we are cooked. Peter King the RINO king has folded into a democrat. There are others. STOP THIS DISASTER FOR OUR COUNTRY.
So DC GOP cave again and its still not good enough for obama, what do they need to bring lubricant with the next time.
excellent !
Obama is republican’s ace in the hole !
they are trying to surrender but zero’s arrogance and hubris won’t accept it, he demands more.
If zero continues to hold out for total surrender, we may get to the debt ceiling after all, and then we get a balanced budget and republicans win after all, even if the beltway leadership is trying to throw the game
I agree!!! Pubbies...you better darn realize you hold the upper hand!!! Forget Obama, his Democrat ilk and his Obamabot media and their rigged polls....they lie....alll the time!!! Pubbies stick it to Obama, and watch him cave as you stay strong!!! Flush your whimp RINO senators down into the cesspool of traitors to American. Hang tough!!! Believe me....the American people stand with you!!!
I don’t think they realize it.
They are stuck in the beltway mindset and can’t see the forest for the trees. Their vision is too narrow in their little elite world.
And keep in mind that this obvious truth can only lead on to one conclusion about the 0bama regime.
It's tough to try to negotiate a deal to avert a disaster when one side of the negotiating wishes to precipitate a disaster.
Neville Chamberlain learned this much to his dismay.
In this case, however, there will not be a disaster if Obama refuses to negotiate a budget deal.
What will result is a massive amount of very hard and competent work for the President to prioritize spending to balance the budget.
Making the current President work hard and act competently at very difficult tasks really puts him, as Alinsky would say, out of his range of experience and at a big disadvantage.
As Chief Executive, he will have to make hard choices and piss people off.
Once he stops being able to be Mr Everything to Everyone and disguise and paper over our countries fiscal and economic problems by spending other people's borrowed money , he will crash and burn.
So will the rest of the Democrats.
That is why they are all in such a panic.
Seems to be a typical federal mindset. Spend, spend, spend and don't bother saving because there will always be money coming in.
Alas, these idiots are the ones who make the news. Military, survivors, vets, people whose livelihood depends on federal sites — they aren't important. The king doesn't care about them.
Only because most the GOP is a pretend opposition party, otherwise they might be more confrontational with the media. The media wants sound bites anyway, the GOP could start provoking with them easily with short, universally parroted statements.
The time to disrupt and start larger civil disobedience actions is now. Get an Obama mask for Halloween, they’ll be good for later demonstrations and effigies.
"The issue is never the issue. The issue is the revolution."
"The President rejected our deal."
The interesting ingredient in all this is that ... the government has been shut down for 12 days and there is no devastation ... no one really cares. Before it happened there was all this worry and concern and then .. nothing after it happened. Won’t some member of Congress point this out? we don’t need all this government ... therefore we CAN cut it and reduce it
It’s time for the Republicans to start playing hardball — make sure to point out to the uninformed public that they went out of their way to compromise but Obama is the one who rejected every deal, “it’s his deal or the highway” and there supposed to be three co-equal branches of the government, not one dictator.
People would get it, they just need to have it explained to them clearly.
Ever notice how these people go to Washington as paupers and retire as multimillionaires? How do they do that on such a low income?
To them, those in Washington, It's not about saving the tax slaves. To the elite, we're nothing but their own personal beasts of burden. It's about them, their power, and their luxuries.
The democrats don't bother hiding it. That's why they never get called on it. They flaunt their luxuries. The republicans are always getting into trouble, because they have to try to hide their lust for power and money, and like today the truth occasionally sneaks out.
Republicans will cave. It's the only way they can scam their millions to retire on.
So, keep working suckers. The politicians from both parties want more of your money. They've got their private islands to pay for.
