A convoy of tractor-trailers planning to circle the Capital Beltway in protest of the federal government has begun its descent on the Washington area and is causing some traffic problems for the morning commute.
The Truckers Ride for the Constitution, which organizer Zeeda Andrews said could attract as many as 3,000 big rigs to the nations capital, only had about 10 participants as of 8:30 a.m.
Andrews insists the convoy is meant to be a peaceful protest rather than a traffic clog. The organizer said Thursday that reports of the trucks planning to take up three lanes of the Beltway were inaccurate, and that they should only occupy one lane of traffic.
But WNEWs John Domen, who began following the trucks as they drove north past a truck stop on Interstate-95 in Dumfries, Va., said trucks were taking up all four lanes of the Inner Loop of the Beltway in Annandale, Va. and had slowed to 10 mph, blocking traffic from getting by.

God bless these truckers and keep them safe!
So, how is this any different from a normal morning commute in the DC area? Seriously, in DC, an accident in the margin of a freeway--not blocking a lane at all--is enough to stop all traffic in the 6 lanes going that direction. The supporters of this can write what they will; it's a shame the protest isn't larger, and that its effect on DC traffic is imperceptible.
I wonder about the efficacy of this protest. The elites aren’t going to notice or be affected by this, but a whole lot of regular folks will, and I don’t think they’ll be very understanding of the message being put out this way. JMHO
Luv the pics, keep up the good work.
That would be monumentally stupid.
Like “kick starting CWII” kind of stupid.
Ten trucks? a convoy of ten trucks?
That’s not a convoy. That is an ordinary moment on I 81
Just wait. It is going to cause apoplexy.
All of you going to watch........ park across the river and take the Metro to the Mall.

I agree. This just pisses off regular citizens that are trying to go about their daily business. Now if the truckers blocked the driveways of certain congressman and senators, that would be effective.
Leaving a crumb to find my way back.

“The elites arent going to notice or be affected by this, but a whole lot of regular folks will, and I dont think theyll be very understanding”
The same way they are when liberal SEIU rent-a-mobs tie up traffic??
These people live inn the government-dependent DC bubble, and they need to know, and understand, just how pi***d off the heartland is.
We deride the sheeple and LIV's for their cluelessness. Tell me, please, how do they awake from their stupor unless something is done to piss them off?
good stuff.
Go Trucker Patriots!
There are plenty of people in the DC area who travel 495 everyday who are on the same side as “the heartland.” Not everyone associated with the federal govt is an SEIU thug. I’m only questioning how many who see or are caught up in this have any idea what message is even being sent, and if this is the best method of sending it. Personally I like Right Brother’s suggestion, but that brings other issues.
If you or I were stuck behind some asshole going 10 mph in the fast lane with clear road ahead on our way to work, we'd be honking too. (And it wouldn't be in support!)
If they're clogging ALL lanes, that's BS. What about ambulances?
This is the kind of stuff that affects the little guy, and hurts us.
