A convoy of tractor-trailers planning to circle the Capital Beltway in protest of the federal government has begun its descent on the Washington area and is causing some traffic problems for the morning commute.
The Truckers Ride for the Constitution, which organizer Zeeda Andrews said could attract as many as 3,000 big rigs to the nations capital, only had about 10 participants as of 8:30 a.m.
Andrews insists the convoy is meant to be a peaceful protest rather than a traffic clog. The organizer said Thursday that reports of the trucks planning to take up three lanes of the Beltway were inaccurate, and that they should only occupy one lane of traffic.
But WNEWs John Domen, who began following the trucks as they drove north past a truck stop on Interstate-95 in Dumfries, Va., said trucks were taking up all four lanes of the Inner Loop of the Beltway in Annandale, Va. and had slowed to 10 mph, blocking traffic from getting by.

Hey, Clown Prince nobama...they pay taxes for use of the highways. Leave them alone.
The truckers have an ally: the rain. DC traffic is usually slowed down by even a slight rain, but its been pouring in DC for hours. :)
Somebody throwing a chewing gum wrapper out the window could cause traffic problems on the beltway.
Well, according to the media bleats and Democrat brays about this ‘shutdown,’ it is a near total catastrophe of idleness and absence that effects each American down to his/her very needy core.
If this is true, a bunch of truckers on the beltway or the parkways around that cesspool shouldn’t be causing any problems at all since all of the governmetn (what media and Obama would like you to believe)is home on furlough.
So, DC’ers, just suck it the hell up and STFU. Go enjoy your furlough - you’re gonna get paid for the time off any way. If I had my way, you’d be sitting home for the rest of this year - at least.

HAPPENING NOW: A group of people are showing their support for the truckers headed to D.C. today by waving flags over Rt. 50 in Harrison County.
Seems like most trucks (and some cars) are honking in response.

Can we get this into “Breaking” so we don’t get a bunch of duplicates?
bump
A result of high gas/diesel prices is that it conveniently makes it harder to go to DC to protest.
let’s hope the little tin gods with the badges don’t open fire on the truckers
“Somebody throwing a chewing gum wrapper out the window could cause traffic problems on the beltway.”
They don’t need “thousands” to make an impact. as few as 15-20 trucks, acting in concert, could shut down the highways of almost any major city.
