In a stunning development, some military priests are facing arrest if they celebrate mass or practice their faith on military bases during the federal government shutdown.
“With the government shutdown, many [government service] and contract priests who minister to Catholics on military bases worldwide are not permitted to work – not even to volunteer,” wrote John Schlageter, the general counsel for the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA, in an op-ed this week. “During the shutdown, it is illegal for them to minister on base and they risk being arrested if they attempt to do so.”
According to its website, the Archdiocese for the Military Services “provides the Catholic Church’s full range of pastoral ministries and spiritual services to those in the United States Armed Forces.”

Yep. He always presents something to the public for PR or to put pressure on someone but it counteracts what he is really doing or about to do. He is quite calculated in his manipulation of his voters.
The military enlisted will have to leave base to attend Holy Mass, but can they even do that?
The contract priests can not enter the base because they can not be paid during this shutdown? Am I reading this right

Gen Dempsey the reptilian Army chief of staff has probably already sent a global email to all commands ordering them to prevent military chaplains from carrying out their priestly duties & threatening to court-martial those commanders or chaplains who disobey.

Contract priests are not the standard chaplain, and therefore can’t enter the base in order to defy the administration. RIGHT?

As regards the priests, if they truly have faith, truly believe in their religion and their duty as priests, then they should be holding mass 4 times a day. They should dare the Obama thugs to arrest them.
If they don't, if they stand down under these threats, they should leave the priesthood. Priests stood up to arrests, beatings and imprisonment in communist countries and now US priests are afraid of the Obama administration and its Chicago thuggery?
Our representative in congress? They stand aside while this goes on? How much better than Obama are they? Not at all.

Levin says he wants a crisis with the House of Reps so he can declare a crisis and muddy the difference between an appropriation and an authorization.
In other words, they have authorized ObamaCare, so Obama will claim in a crisis he has the authority to borrow money to fund what’s been authorized.
On the debt ceiling he’ll call it a matter of national security to prevent a default on our debt. Again, he’ll say they’ve already authorized the debt, so he has the authority to borrow money to see those debts and obligations are paid.

It amounts to suspending Congress without actually saying that.
If a contract priest has his contract suspended or ended, then he cannot perform that contracted function. Many times contracted parties have their own access to the military base. Many times, they are retirees or national guard chaplains.
What they cannot do would be their contract work.
That is not true of volunteers. There is no legitimate reason to prevent volunteers from ministry on base. There are always a host of people allowed on bases for volunteer purposes. And the base commander is tasked by regulation and law to provide religious support on his/her base.
So, if they cannot contract because funds aren’t available, there is no good reason why they cannot use volunteers.

let em try to arrest thousands of ministers. see how that one pans out.
