Defiant House Delays Obamacare; Government Shutdown Looms
CNN ^ | September 29, 2013 | Tom Cohen and Holly Yan

In a move that makes a government shutdown very likely, House Republicans approved a spending plan early Sunday morning that would delay Obamacare for a year and repeal its tax on medical devices.

The temporary budget resolution now goes back to the Senate, where Democrats have consistently said any changes to President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law is a deal-killer.

...

The decision to vote on the House amendments overnight emerged from a rare weekend GOP caucus meeting called by House Speaker John Boehner. The votes, taken after midnight, were 231-192 for the Obamacare delay, and 248-174 for the medical device tax repeal, mostly along party lines.

Two Democrats broke rank and voted for the Obamacare delay: Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, and Jim Matheson of Iowa.

Seventeen Democrats voted for the tax repeal. Meanwhile, a bill to guarantee pay for military personnel during any shutdown passed 423-0.

2 alternate realities. 2 countries.

*********
Irreconcilable differences. Conservatives want freedom; liberals want control. There is no way to close this gap. We are hopelessly polarized, a house divided amongst itself. Eventually something’s gotta give.

Actually, BC, Stockpirate is not that far off.

By kicking this can down the road a year, the GOPe has concealed from the unwashed masses the full impact of OdingaCare. When the next selection cycle rolls around, they will enter the polls oblivious to OdingaCare’s onerous effects, only thinking about the lure of “’Bawma gibsme free sh!t”.

Yes, Odinga could simply wave his hand and the seas will stop rising and this would be delayed. But by doing this, he has legitimized OdingaCare in the minds of the sheep, and at the same time, made the GOPe collaborators.

The Senate voted 44 to 54 to keep ObamaCare stripped out of the Continueing Resolution bill. The House of Representatives voted 231 to 192 to put the ObamaCare delay amendment back into the watered down resolution the Senate returned.

When I do the math, a majority 275 representatives want to the pull plug and drain the ObamaCare swamp. A minority 246 representatives want to keep wallowing in the muck.

It would be nice to have the media report the true narrative, that the majority do not want ObamaCare. But that isn't going to happen. So, being the majority and in the right, we must simply continue to stand strong, not compromise, and improve the ratio with more intelligent representatives in coming elections.

Ted Cruz failed last week. That’s just a fact. I’m no fan of Boehner, but the house had voted to defund obamacare long before that vanity “symbolic” filibuster that didn’t accomplish anything.

Peter King is that you?

LOL.

"Da Coyote, the repubs just gave the democrats the greatest gift of the mid-term elections, a delay in Obamacare."

And the rats won't take it. They want complete surrender.

Can two nations occupy the same geographic area?

Can we each declare individually, which country we belong to, and then live side by side, with separate systems for everything?

I vote to be in the nation which does not allow those in power to use my money and labor to satisfy their urges to take pity on others—Mr. A feels sorry for Mr. B. so he steals from Mr. C to pay B. A feels like he is moral and helpful to B.

A feels superior to C, his slave.

In terms of that particular bill, perhaps. In the larger scheme, he focused attention within the Republican Party as to exactly how many Quislings are elected to the Senate.

Ted Cruz scattered more D.C. cockroaches in 21 hours than commentators, pollsters, lobbyists and special interests have in 21 years. That isn't failure. It sets the framework for long term success.

He also put immense public pressure on the House to stand its ground. That isn't failure either. It's reminding the American public and the Republican Party alike that the conservative base actually matters, and I for one appreciate that.

Didn’t accomplish anything? lol

He’s murdering the GOPe and the dems.

Look today he’s calling the Senate back and busting on the media for not calling the senate out.

Just damn he is the one driving this bus.

Because of him, the Rs are fighting. Is that nothing?

Delay, delay, delay

Speaking of Delay...I understand that Tom "The Hammer" Delay was just exonerated by an appeals court from the overreaching charges of Ronnie Earl, and the false prosecution by a partisan hack judge.

The higher court ruled that there was no problem with the fundraising practices he engaged in, and the law that he was accused of violating was not even in effect at the time.

Of course, this all cost him years of his life and millions of dollars, but he said "this ain't over yet". When asked if he was ruined politically he indicated that he still has some surprises up his sleeve.

So, imagine a Speaker "The Hammer" Delay, and a president of the Senate Ted Cruz.

What a Texas dream team.

Peter King is on FOX. He is folding. “I have gone along with it until now.”

According to him, the House will shut down the government.

He will note vote to shut the gov down. Does not understand why the party is following Cruz down this road. The people that want this thinks everyone wants this.

Repeating the dem mantra of passed, signed & upheld & reaffirmed by election.

Doesn’t understand why this is being done at the last minute. (DUH! Talk to Boner because he thinks symbolic votes count)

Of course, he reminded us all he is against obamacare.
What a POS (vile enough for you, King? I have much worse.)

King should be a comedian, he sounds fore like Alan King instead of the old Peter King when he talks.

Mark Peter for removal by all means possible and move on.

What's up with this? Kevin McCarthy: House Will Send Third Volley to Senate if Reid Rejects Last Night’s Bill

Doubt the conservatives are going to like this.

That's not the door number three I'm looking for.

I want the funding for obamacare removed, that's all.
Do what Pat suggested. Send a bill to fund the military.(and only the military.
Go one by one on funding specific things, but no obamacare.

Proceed that way, and let things fall where they will.

"Meanwhile, a bill to guarantee pay for military personnel during any shutdown passed 423-0."

Good. They should pass a bill to stop all federal funding to state and local governments. That would solve the problem with so many Republicans voting in favor of enlarging big government and regulating against new, small manufacturing businesses. That would also solve much of the debt problem.

Or they can cruise on to repudiating the debt. Either way, sooner or later, many troublemakers will be laid off, so that productive activities can resume.

This whole debate should show EVERYONE just how huge the beast
has become, OH MY THE CATASTROPHE OF SHUTTING IT DOWN!
The tentacles of the beast have become overwhelming!
Heard a news story this morning of a woman who backed over her 3 year
old daughter in her driveway, so of course laws now need to be changed
so there are cameras in ALL cars to prevent this from EVER happening
again!! HOW ABOUT PAYING ATTENTION TO WHERE YOUR KIDS
ARE!!!! WE ARE DOOMED!!! Our citizens really do expect government
to fix their stupidity!!!
