In a move that makes a government shutdown very likely, House Republicans approved a spending plan early Sunday morning that would delay Obamacare for a year and repeal its tax on medical devices.
The temporary budget resolution now goes back to the Senate, where Democrats have consistently said any changes to President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law is a deal-killer.

The decision to vote on the House amendments overnight emerged from a rare weekend GOP caucus meeting called by House Speaker John Boehner. The votes, taken after midnight, were 231-192 for the Obamacare delay, and 248-174 for the medical device tax repeal, mostly along party lines.
Two Democrats broke rank and voted for the Obamacare delay: Mike McIntyre of North Carolina, and Jim Matheson of Iowa.
Seventeen Democrats voted for the tax repeal. Meanwhile, a bill to guarantee pay for military personnel during any shutdown passed 423-0.

The key vote of resistance showed only 19 Republican U.S. Senators voting the right way, the others were with Harry Reid and Barack Obama on Friday.
Boehner has lost the mantle of leadership to Ted Cruz and now has to put on this show to pretend he is a leader.
In the end we know Boehner caves as usual.
Once again, media bias is on full display.
Good...shut the Feds down. Really...other than the Fed “workers” getting a paid vacation, what does it matter? At least during the “shut-down” maybe some of the Feds will “shut-up”.
And the two will never reconcile, and cannot coexist indefinitely. I wonder if a final breakup is inevitable?
Obama has said the exchanges will open on the 1st regardless. Let them open.
The House should reply by saying let them open. Let anyone who so desires sign up. But there is no compromise on the mandate because the “tax” (penalty) did not originate in the house and we have no plans to originate a new tax.
Further, they should vote on a new bill which prohibits companies from dropping employees from healthcare plans to “force” them into the exchanges.
The GOP needs to up the ante.

Ted Cruz failed last week. That’s just a fact. I’m no fan of Boehner, but the house had voted to defund obamacare long before that vanity “symbolic” filibuster that didn’t accomplish anything.
Now we have a bipartisan bill that funds the government and the burden is on Reid to keep the government running.
Isn’t it sad this country has become so dependent on the government machine it can’t even be shut down for repairs and maintenance every once in a while??
The republican leadership is in bed with the democrats with this bill, I have said all along that they wanted this healthcare bill to pass, now with this move the make sure voters do NOT feel the effects of Obamacare until after the mid-term elections.
Traitors everyone of them, and no they did not cave they want the same ends as the fascists because they are fascists too.
Da Coyote, the repubs just gave the democrats the greatest gift of the mid-term elections, a delay in Obamacare.
Shut it down for the next three years. It would be amazing to see how well the American people could adapt if they could keep all the money that is sent to the bottomless pit of Greedy Government.
