J.C. Penneys stock hit a 13-year low Wednesday as investors grow increasingly concerned about the future of the 112 year old iconic American retailer.
Shares plunged more than 15% at one point and briefly dipped below $10 a share a level they have not touched since November 2000.
Several analysts are predicting that J.C. Penney did not have a good back to school shopping season, and that sales continued to plummet in late August and early September.
Investors had already been spooked by reports that J.C. Penney might be seeking to raise more cash through the sale of new stock or bonds.
In a conference call with analysts last month, J.C. Penney executives said they would not need to raise more cash anytime soon. They expected to have $1.5 billion in cash by year-end.
But JPMorgan analyst Carla Casella recently estimated that the retailer could run out of cash by the third quarter of 2014 if J.C. Penneys sales and profits failed to improve.

Many of us quit buying from the store.
And there you have it.
As long as JC Penney continues to promote homosexuality, I will not shop there.
I think they’ve tried to back away from it, but the damage has been done.
Relying on less than 3% of the population is not a sound marketing strategy unless that less than 3% happens to be incredibly wealthy. Even then, it’s dicey.
Ditto that. I recently bought two sets of towels and a bedspread, which I likely would have bought from JCP ... but I found them on line and the quality was just as good, if not better, and the prices were better. Sorry JCP ... won’t miss you.
They'll have to do a LOT more than that to change my mind. They have basically set their course in stone, to most people's thinking. There is almost not penance enough possible to undo this damage.
don’t buy General Mills foods either...
Are they still in business?
Plus, the last time I was in JCPenney, their shirts looked like they were designed by gays.
It's never just the 3% to whom they are marketing. You have to also include the friends, relatives and leftards that support and promote sodomy. However, they are still running the risk of pissing off more people than they please. All of Gay C. Penney's wounds are self-inflicted.
Heck, I doubt the incredibly wealthy would be caught dead in a place like JC Penney. They might encounter regular people.
Yep, when I found out about General Mills pro-sodomy position, I quit buying their stuff.
A little bit helps.
did they try? I doubt it
When a company promotes homo love its a pretty safe bet the leadership is too
Right you are! Makes you think the same about our present government administration.
I don’t personally want to see J.C. Penny bankrupt, and out of business even though I never shop there other than once in awhile to purchase their heavy cotton T-shirts. Been wearing their T-shirts since a child.
I don’t want to see an icon of the American retail scene bankrupted by progressive cunning, but that’s what is into about every major corporation today. It’s been part of the tactic of the Left to get their own into high positions ie; CEO, CFO, Presidents, and the like within major corporations, as well onto the Boards of Directors. It’s NOT just the political parties effected by the practice of stealth infiltration by the Left. They are into virtually everything with a goal of coordinated subversion of our business, retail, industry, etc.
And, absolutely no media outlet will comment on that decision by Penneys as the reason so many people stopped buying anything at their stores.
“I think theyve tried to back away from it, but the damage has been done.”
It’s not like they weren’t warned. There were plenty of us making calls and sending e-mails. They had time to turn it around and chose not to. Too bad. I think Penneys and Sears were our first foray into credit.
I don’t shop there. Period.................
Still, the news stories from the enemedia refuse to ever mention that Penney’s homo-groveling played big into the continued free fall. Disgusting propaganda by non-reporting.
