Making the case for intervention in Syria to a war-weary American public, Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday that the strike will be "unbelievably small" a comment that has already earned him relentless mocking in its immediate aftermath. "Were not going to war. We will not have people at risk in that way," Kerry said during a press conference in London with UK Foreign Secretary William Hague, according to a transcript released by the State Department.
"We will be able to hold Bashar Assad accountable without engaging in troops on the ground or any other prolonged kind of effort in a very limited, very targeted, very short-term effort that degrades his capacity to deliver chemical weapons without assuming responsibility for Syrias civil war.
"That is exactly what were talking about doing unbelievably small, limited kind of effort."
Kerry's comments are a microcosm of the poor job the Obama administration has done trying to explain the rationale for intervention. On one hand, they realize they are dealing with a "war-weary" public skeptical of engaging in another Middle East conflict.
On the other hand, Kerry has made repeated comments casting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad as the greatest villain of the 21st century, in response to an alleged chemical-weapons attack against his own people on Aug. 21. The U.S. says the attack killed 1,429 people, including 426 children.

What do you know about degrading a military.
Wait. What am I saying. You work for Obama. What are you going to do? Demand Assad allow womyn and homosexuals to serve in his military?
“Yeah, what is that tongue action? You expect him to nail a fly on the other side of the room.”
Inside the human visage, Jean-Francois Kerre` is actually a humanoid lizard, much like the aliens in the TV series “V”.
That would explain a lot.
You wouldn’t catch Anthony Weiner using phraseology like that.
Naaa, the rest of his face has gotten longer and just makes his chin look shorter.
Yes. His jaw was so long back in 1971, it qualified as a facial deformation. He had about an inch hacked off his jaw some years ago.
His Botox has made his face immovable.
They are going all the way and do all three.
Agree or disagree with the action, I don’t recall that Clinton had such a display of incompetence, by himself, his administration, and by the US military establishment regarding the Balkans.
I guess it's just a matter of al-Assad was O.K. before he wasn't O.K.
Of course, “unbelievably small” all depends on Russia, Syria
or Iran NOT striking back. Once our first cruise missile is fired,
it may not end up “small”.
SOS John Kerry should not get mocked...he should get fired, today!!! And....his failed boss, POTUS Muslim barack Hussein Obama should be impeaached!!!
The never ending wisdom of Lurch!
The Lurch and Biteme comedy hour with constant appearances by Obozo the Clown, will not be canceled until 2016...
Now imagine him as your President.
Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU, Ohio!!!
Marfans disease ?
This is what you get when there are no consequences for failure.
Put these bozos in any company and they would be fired for incompetence in their management of numerous areas.
Economy, Immigration, Foreign Policy etc.
They are lucky they get to operate in the Washington environment where
accountability is for everyone else, and oh by the way don’t forget to
pay your taxes.
A phrase seared into his memory from many a nocturnal encounter.
Know what i was hoping for? A few examples of him being mocked. I was virtually salivating.
“Kerry earned immediate fire from even supporters of the administration’s plan, including Rep. Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), the chair of the House Intelligence Committee.
“I don’t understand what he means by that,” Rogers said when asked to analyze Kerry’s comments Monday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“This is part of the problem. That’s a very confusing message. Certainly a confusing message to me that he would offer that, as somebody who believes this is in our national security interest.”
Thats the one example and it doesn’t rise to the level of mock. Not blaming you Seek. Simply expressing frustration with what passes for journalism these days.
