[Vanity] Time for a Mass Exodus from the Republican Party?

Posted on 09/03/2013 11:55:20 AM PDT by Maceman

I suggested this idea on another thread, but I’m thinking maybe it deserves its own thread.

I’d love to see a full-blown glass roots campaign for Republican voters to constructively express their anger and demonstrate their absolute determination to save our nation by formally leaving the Republican Party.

I’d love to see the GOPe face a well-documented and very highly publicized walk-out.

It's easy and free. All we need to do is un-register.

I propose a massive grass roots movement for conservative Republicans to officially leave the party by changing their voter registrations to Independent or Unenrolled (or Conservative Party or Libertarian Party or any non-left party that is legally established in their state of registration).

If you live in a state with a closed primary, keep your Republican registration until the primary is over, and then switch (unless the conservative candidate wins).

Otherwise, let’s show the GOPe, the RINOs and the Democrat enabling aisle-crossers that they are on their own and will never win another vote from Conservatives.

In the current political climate, changing party registration is a revolutionary act. And this is a time for revolutionary acts if we are to save our beloved nation.

It’s time.

Let's turn our backs.

A better iea is to take over the GOP from the inside and boot the RINOs to the curb.

It's not a better idea, because it is an impossible pipe dream, given the current political realities.

But it might be realistic if there is a very public walk-out that shakes the Party foundation and proves beyond a doubt that the GOPe faces certain political destruction if they don't choose the Conservative path.

I've done it, and am convinced the GOP-Elite look at it positively as "thinning the herd".

If GOP leaders really think they can hold onto their seats without the support of the conservative base -- or if they agree with Rove that no matter how much we're held in contempt by the GOP-E we'll continue to vote even for RINOs -- how can we expect them to prevail in the DC power struggle? They have no sense -- no sense -- of battle strategy and tactics and deserve to go down ... and go down BIG TIME!

Short term the Democrats will win elections.

You can still VOTE Republican if you want to.

Besides, the Democrats are winning them ANYWAY. Remember Romney? Remember McCain? Remember Scott Brown?

Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and other conservatives could start a new party. Millions would flock to it.

The GOP for over two decades has been part of the problem and not allowing for the solution. It's corrupt to the very core and owned by the same donors who own the DEMS. It's time for the party too go the way of The Whig. {waiting on the My Party Tis Of Thee Defenders to start posting}.

The GOP can't be fixed within. It has essentially been two parties since the late 1800’s. The back and forth control with Progressives in the party is no longer back and forth. They control the party and are as bad if not worse than the Liberals in the Democratic Party. With today's communication capabilities there is no reason a new Conservative Party can not take it's place.

And the GOP solid conservative you elect in the primary who then wins the election turns out to be a so-called RINO as soon as he is a voting member. That is what happened last time and the time before and will happen again. Why should it change? Why should you support it? Because the label makes the difference? How so? Are you comfortable voting for a Brown weasel instead of a White weasel? They are both weasels and their actions once admitted to the hen house will be indistinguishable.

Thinning the herd is one thing. Let's see what happens when there is a large stampede of the bulk of the herd away from the GOPe, which there would be if this idea goes viral.

That cannot happen. So long as conservatives go to the Democrats’ party they have no effect.

Kinda late to the show, aren’t you??

Really?  How so?  Is it ever too late to make a life changing switch (not counting anything terminal)?

Remember Romney? Remember McCain? Remember Scott Brown?

Those are the Democrats who lost the elections to other Democrats.

I agree. Better to start something else, a Tea-Party/Don't Tread on Me type of thing that will grow and eventually siphon off what few conservatives remain in the GOP. The RINOs can just become dems in name as well as deed.

It would work....but you have way too many liberal PhonyCons...who claim conservatism.....but think the GOP is the only conservative thing out there.

A third party is a great way to give the Rats a majority in both houses for a very long time. I don’t buy the argument that the GOP would “learn its lesson” from a massive walkout. Just look at the horror that we had when the Rats controlled both houses of Congress and the presidency in 2009-2011. And the GOP STILL voted with liberals time after time.

I called the RNC in DC earlier when I couldn’t get through the Capitol switchboard to speak to my Congressman or Senators with my comment about staying out of Syria. At the RNC, I talked to a “volunteer” and I was told the RNC just raises funds and doesn’t get involved in issues like Syria. Call and voice your opinion to the fundraisers:

BTW, Speaker Boner won’t take comments if you’re not in his district. Why is he Speaker???

IMO, these Elitists represent themselves and not their constituents. I guess they feel smarter than us peons, ya think?
