In May, TheBlaze told you about Aaron and Melissa Klein, owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, an Oregon-based bakery that has fallen under intense scrutiny. Throughout 2013, the Christian couple and their business have been in the midst of a media firestorm after refusing to make a wedding cake for a lesbian couple.
From threats to vicious phone calls and e-mails, the Klein family has been inundated with angry responses. Now, Aaron and Melissa have announced that they are shutting down their shop.
In a brief phone interview earlier this month, Melissa told TheBlaze that the couple has continued to face upheaval following their faith-based decision. Just days after we spoke, she and her husband announced that this past weekend was the family’s last at its current location.
The business will be transitioning, with the Kleins operating, instead, from their home.
“This will be our last weekend at the shop we are moving our business to an in home bakery,” read a post on the company’s Facebook page on Aug. 30.

This is exactly why I refused to support expanding homosexual ‘rights’. Now if you don’t bow down to them and kiss their ring finger, they’ll put you out of business.

Reminds me of the time the gays pressured eHarmony.com, even though there are a bazillion online love and adult dating sites out there.
The persecution is outrageous. If GBLT's don't like the way someone does business, go support a GBLT baker. There are plenty of them around.
An in-home bakery?
I bet the frequent inspections, mounting regulations and tax audits will make that business short lived.
We’d love to have them move to Charlotte and open their business.
Of course, I don’t think I’ll ever be buying a wedding cake. But I’d go out of my way to buy other baked goods from them.
I imagine the building owner was also intimidated.
We are supposed to be tolerant of perverts, fine. But I demand the pervert-lovers show equal tolerance for those that don’t share their belief that anything goes. Oh, wait, we don’t see that. If you’re not on board with the liberal agenda then they feel justified in any level of hatred and intolerance towards you. Effing hypocrites, every single one of them.

This will go on for a while but it can not last. The backlash is coming. Good hard working decent moral Americans will not stand idly by and allow this Country to be destroyed.

The sad fact is that neither Christians nor conservatives will use the power of their spending. Hand it to the rope suckers, they will absolutely boycott a place if it won't ‘figuratively’ bend over for them. You have to hand to them - at using their pocketbooks as weapons, they are much better than us.
