With the President poised to strike in Syria and the Congress set to vote on the issue the week of Sep. 9, the debate about U.S. military intervention in the two-year-old civil war is already happening amongst the American public.
Some Americans have made their voices known to their representatives, while many others have said the U.S. should stay out of the conflict, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
In the poll, only 20% said the U.S. should take action, although that was up from 9% last week. Even if it's clear the Assad regime used chemical weapons on civilians, only 29% said the U.S. should intervene.

Did you read the whole Business Insider article and a related one on the site, linked at the bottom?
I have no idea.
Why do you think it smells funny? You think phonies are trying to get US service members suckered into doing the sign thing?
I’d like your specific opinion on the entire article and the one linked at the bottom of the first article, on the BI site. I read them both. I suggest you do so as well if you haven’t.
Be still my beating heart....
“I think everyone in Congress who votes for this war needs to suit up and grab a rifle, grab a parachute and catch the first flight over to Syria.”
I’m sure that gays are standing in long lines, waiting for the Army Recruiting offices to open, so they can go fight in the Gay Media Messiah Obama’s Syrian War.
Right??
I don’t trust our politicians, and I don’t think we should be involved in Syria in any way. There have been no illegal orders issued. There is always the option of conscientious objector status.
If this was a potential war/conflict that FReepers supported, how many posters would be trashing the same actions?
I think you’re someone whose opinion is very wrong and I wonder why you’re so vociferously pounding it.
I guess the idea of the military not wanting to go along with the Enemy-Combatant-In-Chief really frightens and angers you.
I have never agreed with shutting down the military voice. All kinds of people spend money to influence the Congress and the President, yet, the very people whose lives are at stake get no voice at all. I am sure this is not what the founders had in mind for a national military. They wanted the States to have a say and the State militaries always had a say.
As part of the Communist takeover of this country they have silenced the members of the military and made laws to shut them up. Who better to know the ramifications of military use than the military? Yet, the Commies dont want to hear from them.
Excellent points, I agree 100%.
The fish rots from the head...
It's what happens when you have a corrupt controlling government conducting criminal activities and operating outside of the U.S. Constitution. And all this started before Obama..
This is all part of the wheels coming off...
Nearly every single problem facing America today is caused by government at all levels.
So your argument is that two wrongs make a right?
Hes hiding his face for a reason, he knows he shouldnt be doing this.
The German soldiers who spoke up were wrong. But some did.
I am a veteran. I can assure you that I would not follow an order to kill unarmed women and children and would speak out. The oath we take instructs us to defend the Constitution and Country against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. Obama has systematically been destroying our military for 5 years. That dedicated American soldiers are feed up can come as no surprise..........
Absolutely agree. I didn’t realize that CPOs and buck sergeants got to sound off on policy in uniform.
“His ONLY obligation is to obey his orders, not become a silent slave.”
You are incorrect. He has to follow the UCMJ. That means to political statements in uniform. It doesn’t matter if you or I like/agree with it.
That picture may have been “photoshopped.”
forget the parachute, sand is soft.
Love those signs. But, far more military voted for the liberal commie socialist homo loving muzzie thug for president than any recent dimocrat. I cannot remember a time when so many US military voted for a socialist dimocrat than these two past elections.
Do you have proof the Federal government is lying?
” I didnt realize that CPOs and buck sergeants got to sound off on policy in uniform.”
Got something against enlisted service members?
Why shouldn’t they sound off? They are still Americans are they not? They still represent their uniform to tell us what their uniform thinks. That uniform is OUR uniform, not the President’s. It is not “his military” as he recently claimed. It is OUR military and I want to know OUR military thinks of OUR decision to send them to war.
Our Congress need to answer this question:
Is it worth sending MY kid or grandkid over there in the first wave, for this mission?
If the answer is “NO” then they have no business voting for the obama war
How do you think most would answer?
“He has to follow the UCMJ. That means to political statements in uniform. It doesnt matter if you or I like/agree with it.”
You seem to love that law. I don’t.
He may not be military at all, too. Either way, the note on the card represents my view completely.
I would strongly disagree. When person enlists in the military he/she takes an oat to protect US/interests home and abroad. In the case of Syria no US interest involved. This is a time for our country to stop police everyone around the world. Europe and arab nations don’t do anything so why we have to endanger our military? High moral values? Building democracy in the ME? As of today there is only evidence that chemical weapons was used in Syria but no indication who used them. If UN have a problem, let them send their troops to Syrian meat grinder.
Wrong....This is exactly what needs to happen...People need to speak out against their governemnt operating illegally, outside the U.S. Constitution...
I don’t care if it’s a Private or a GD General.....
The time has come.
