A liberal has never been able to articulate how more government regulations can improve the opportunities of the private sector. Any program they put forth has the consequences of limiting growth in another sector.

I think it was 50 years ago when I first became aware that government was going to cure joblessness, homelessness, inequality, etc. By any measure, government has cocked everything up. And if, in fact, people start thinking the government’s the problem instead of the solution, then what that leaves you is whatever the marketplace does on its own. And what we’ve seen is a marketplace that increasingly produces very unequal results.
There is a problem with this? That is how it should work; however, unequal results do not mean poor results. More people will benefit from a free market than any other system. They will not all benefit equally, but they will eventually be free of the type of grinding, generational poverty wrought by the central planners.
