PRESIDENT OBAMA: There is an argument that was made in 1964, 1965 on through the 80s and 90s in which those who resisted any change in the status quo, particularly when it came to economic opportunity, made two big arguments.
Argument number one was, any efforts by government to help folks who were locked out of opportunity, whether it was minorities or the poor generally, unions, any effort by government to help those folks is bad for the economy. And that became a major argument. And if, in fact, people start thinking the governments the problem instead of the solution, then what that leaves you is whatever the marketplace does on its own. And what weve seen is a marketplace that increasingly produces very unequal results. And it so it it disempowers our capacity for common action to do something about poverty, to do something to help middle-class families.
And I think the second element to that argument that has been made, sometimes subtly, sometimes not so subtly, is that government has hurt middle-class families or hurt white working-class families, because, you know, pointy-headed bureaucrats in Washington are just trying to help out minorities or trying to give them something free. He is really in “Left” field!
Attention minorities- you can’t build that!
You need the govt to give it to you
I trust the marketplace far, far more than I would ever trust the government.
What a dumba$$!
I’m speechless. I don’t know where to start.
I will say what I always tell my liberal gov coworkers. I think it’s more compassionate to strengthen the economy and build job markets so we don’t have to help “those folks.”
This man continues under the hate-think that the evil white man wants to hurt the poor black man. It’s right there in this half-witted incoherent screed.
I wonder if he has ever used the MF word.
Truer words were never spoken
The day after the inauguration in 2009, Obama announced we would have ‘an invisible hand guided by the government’. In other words, Central Planning. There is no ‘market’ with such designs.
Anyone who thinks the government is the solution is doomed. By its very nature government attempts to help one group over another are discriminatory and unfair. Finally, any government involvement in a business sector unnaturally distorts that business/market. That by definition is bad for the natural economic balance and ebb and flow of business and markets.
He’s very disconnected from reality. First black prez and all he can do is go on about race. Maybe he thinks he’s white.
For reference please see the following where government has been the “solution”:
North Korea
Cuba
Former Soviet Union
Mainland China
Zimbabwe
Nazi Germany
Fascist Italy
Imperial Japan
I think he is saying the world owes certain people a living while others have to work to assure them they get it.
He is right. Just look at all the millions of poor black folks that have been lifted out of poverty by the trillions the government has spent on the war on poverty.
Oh wait......................
Did I say question? I meant answer. The answer is that he is one of the most profoundly idiotic politicians ever to open his mouth in public, right down there with Hank Johnson.
We are governed by a true idiocracy now.
Obama message translation....... Gov’t is the big “tit” for everything that ails minorities.
What an embarrassment to our nation this creepy Marxist is. Shame on us for allowing the dependent classes to foist him on us, with our tax money providing the “grease” for Democrats to buy votes.
No DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!That’s EXACTLY The Way It’s MEANT TO BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
