White people are products of their own whitewashed, sanitized environment. Black people have been systematically excluded from white neighborhoods. Black stories rarely surface in popular culture. The history of race in high school textbooks has been boiled down to a handful of bedtime stories about Jackie Robinson and Rosa Parks. Try to tap into the average white person's feelings on race and you won't necessarily find feelings of hate and antipathy. You just won't find much of anything, no fully formed or well-considered thoughts about race of any kind. There's nothing really there. Even white people who want black friends don't know where to start.

Black people hate us (yeah, there are as many exceptions as there are black conservatives). Once we understand this, how even our president hates America because mist of us are white, we will be much better off.
This is a stupid article, even by CNN standards.
I am white and I have black friends....and gasp I live in the south. Also my neighborhood has a blending of families of multiple races and it is a nice middle class neighborhood. So tired of the divisiveness going on in America.
“There is only one group that refuses to accept an invite or extend one.”
My first encounter with racism was in Pittsbugh in the early 70’s. My roomies and I were having a party and I was trying to get a head count at work. a black tech I worked with looked at me and said she may have had to work with whites at work, but she couldn’t stand us and she sure wasn’t going to socialize with us after work.
I believe you are right. I live in a small town, central U.S. There are exactly 3 black people in my town and they are children, adopted as infants as babies.
I had black friends before I retired but they were "at work friends", I had invited my black friends to my house from time to time but only one ever accepted my invitation. I had asked him to "drop in" any time and he did.
I’ll save people the trouble of reading the article- It’s white people’s fault.
From the ads on TV, it seems that all white people have black friends. They drink beer and eat steaks in the back yard. They discuss financial matters over drinks. They discuss life insurance.
This CNN piece is apparently with out reality
“This write-up was designed to put white people on defense and look foolish. They are hoping to reinforce the Im not racist, I have a black friend. phrase that has become a joke for the leftist elite.”

Hilarious!
I’ve got many black friends and our neighborhood in a northern suburb of Dallas is very diverse ... mixed race couples, Asians, Africans, Middle Eastern, etc.
This article is just trying to stoke the flames of racism.
Oh, and Tanner, be on your best behavior...

If one wants to enjoy the absence of black persons, all one has to do is locate a bastion of liberal thought and go there. I cite only for example among the hundreds of places that white liberals do not have to put up with the antics of black persons: The East 80’s, NYC, Berkeley CA, Poughkeepsie NY (Vassar), Eugene OR (where there are only 1000 black persons in the whole city), etc. The FBI can’t find a black person there unless he was, as Bill Clinton put it so well, “getting us coffee.”
I have few friends and many acquaintances. I think if most people were honest with themselves they would find the same thing to be true in their lives. My upper middle class neighborhood in Madison, Alabama is racially and ethnically mixed. Fine by me. I don’t care who lives next to me, on my street or in my neighborhood just as long as they keep up their house/lawn, keep the noise down and mind their own business. If that makes me a CiT (Curmudgeon in Training) then so be it.
I agree with you. I don’t owe them anything, and want nothing from them except for them to leave me alone. They have no right to expect me to pay for the way someone else treated their ancestors, anymore than I should expect all black men to be punished because one raped my sister. That sin is not mine to carry, nor that of my children, and I’m happy to let them know it.
Because your black friends will shoot you if they get bored
Because I can not just talk with a black, I must consider every word at least 3 times before I speak. It exhausts me to cater to the chips on their shoulders.
WTF is this headline. My friends are of every race. I look for the content of their character.
BING..!
Correct. There was a study a couple years ago that showed that 97% of Washington DC's Metro service employees are black. This was considered to be positive and a step toward "diversity" by the black people in charge even though Washington, DC is only 50% black.
I've read of similar figures concerning Atlanta's transit authority.
I do know an instance where diversity didn't mean black percentage. I know a white guy who is an uber-Liberal who preaches about diversity. Despite holding political views I complete disagree with, he's an intelligent and nice guy. He ran as a Democrat for an open county judge position (he's an attorney). He lost a close race, in great part, because the state's Democrat Party threw their support behind his Democrat opponent. When he asked the Democrat Party officials why they supported his opponent and not him they told him it was because his opponent is a Latina and they wanted diversity. Nothing about qualifications.
He had just been discriminated against because he's a white man, and the weird part is that he seemed cool with it and even agreed with it. For these type of white people "diversity" is the greatest tenet of their Liberal religion.
I’m white and some of the dearest friends I’ve ever had are black. One is in Heaven now and I miss her very much. My other black friends are scattered in different states from me but we still keep up with each other. I don’t get to see them in person much so that’s what makes the Internet and the telephone so great.
I also have 6 mixed nieces and nephews (sis white, husband black) who are wonderful kids and loved dearly by our family. I will say though it took some getting used to by my parents. lol
I’ve always said that it should not be skin color but character that we look at.
