Members of the New Haven community are up in arms as rocker Ted Nugent gets ready to play at the legendary Toads Place Tuesday night evening.
More than 2,700 community members have signed a Change.org petition asking Toads Place to cancel Nugent's 7:30 p.m. show in the wake of several controversial remarks he has allegedly made about Trayvon Martin.
The petition reads:
We, the undersigned, ask that out of respect of the New Haven community, which is experiencing a great deal of grief as a result of the Trayvon Martin verdict, you cancel the Ted Nugent show scheduled for August 6th
We understand that you may consider this a First Amendment issue, and while Mr. Nugent has a right to his speech that right does not require that he do so here.

JouleZ, didn’t mean to ignore your comment, which I did.
I appreciate the response, and the confirmation.
I am sorry I didn’t address your comments appropriately.
Good Lord...there is nothing more stupid than a White Guilt Liberal
Au contraire, GZ did do something wrong. He lost situational awareness, and as a result, he's got this liberal created albatross hung around his neck for the rest of his days.
I'm just sayin'
New Haven does have the worlds best pizza though..
No problem. Glad we are on the same team, FRiend.
They sure have a lot of stupid white Yankees in New Haven.
Actually Chicago has the best pizza.
Edwardo’s stuffed crust pizza is simply the best!
What’s up with the white abortion lady trying to claim that Martin is her son? That’s weird.
Me too JouleZ. Thank you.
Uncle Ted, tougher than nails.
Lived and worked in Chicago for two years. Chicago pizza isn’t even close.
These people are too stupid to be idiots.
They played with fire and got burned. They refused to grow up, opened themselves up to evil... and evil got them.
Then they couldn't get out.
Great van Susteren was down there and said you could not see out 5 feet in front of you it was that dark. Would love to see the armchair quarterbacks like you in a similar situation. Life does not always work like your close quarter combat training.
I like how people who have no clue about someone's back-ground can make snarky, holier than thou comments like this, through the anonymity of the internet. I don't need to, and am not going to lay my bonafides out for you, in making the comment I did.
Suffice to say that my comment is true, and it doesn't matter how I would react in the situation, because I am not the subject of the conversation.
Looks like a fail.
Nugent isn't worried. I am certain he is well protected.
