Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday said Congress should pass a short-term funding bill to keep the government from shutting down Oct. 1.
The Speaker acknowledged that Congress was unlikely to complete the 12 appropriations bills by the end of the fiscal year in September and called for a continuing resolution (CR) to carry the government for some short period of time.
Having said that, the idea of operating for an entire year under a CR is not a good way to do business, and Ive been working with Chairman [Hal] Rogers to try to find a way to do all of these appropriations bills, Boehner said at a Capitol news conference. I think its important for Congress to do its work.
Boehner also said an appropriations bill that was pulled from the House floor on Wednesday would be brought back up in September.
The decision to yank a spending bill for the departments of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development (THUD) prompted a stinging response from the Republican chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Rep. Hal Rogers (Ky.), who charged that the bill lacked the votes to pass.

here we go again..
The only thing that needs to be done is to chain and padlock the US House of Representatives’ Chamber so that these fools cannot enter there and vote on one damned thing.
Just say NO round heels.
Boner calls for being replaced in 2014.
All the ‘short term’ strung together make it long term.
hey! how about they PASS A BUDGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
shut the sob down.
And to post a copy of one each:
The Constitution
Their Oath of Office
Someone tell that RINO Tool Laura Ingraham that THIS is what Ted Cruz and his spokesperson meant by The Surrender Caucus.
Of course he did. Anything to avoid a showdown on obamacare.
Obamacare is the campaign issue that keeps on giving. Getting rid of it is counterproductive to keeping the base in line.
Just like keeping a lid on amnesty until after the Aug recess so GOP critters don’t get an earful at home.
The GOP-e needs to wake up. Informed voters ie the base are much more savvy than this. These stunts won’t work.
I don’t want a short term fix. Let it shut down and see what really NEEDS money. It might be very enlightening.
NO. Shut down the Gov’t if they can not pass a budget. It’s their damn JOB and they should stop disrespecting taxpayers by sticking duct tape all over a leaky pipe.
It ain’t working Johnny. DON’T recess for Summer break (I bet most of us paying taxes won’t be able to). Make the case to America that the current regime’s policies (obamacare, spending, etc.) is completely out of control and MUST be stopped.
This is more Republican kabuki theater to keep up the facade that they are an opposition party. There hasn’t been a budget since Obama was elected so why now? Boehner is just trying to stir up some headlines and play pretend. Sadly, it will likely work.
Boehner and the House Republicans should either stand tall and take whatever comes or cave now. The drama of threatening for weeks and then giving in under pressure makes Obama look good for not compromising while the Pubbies get no credit from the voters for compromising. It is disgusting.
Bend over... lube up and make sure to thank obama for your butt lovin’. boehner... you are lower than whale poop... you drunk liberal.
