If Nixon had tried something like this, he would have rightly been branded a rogue president.
Jackie Calmes, a first-class political reporter working for the New York Times, actually had the gall to ask the president if he had consulted White House lawyers on the constitutionality of unilaterally delaying the employer mandate in Obamacare.
Obamas answer would have been worthy of King George, or perhaps a meglomaniacal dictator not a servant of the people in a great republic.

I believe that the more valuable lesson to be learned, and long remembered, is the apparent impotence of better men to stop the incompetent ignorant footnote in history.
And that impotence, as you correctly call it, is what I call the fatal flaw of our system of government. There aren’t systems without flaws, but in some of those systems a military intervention is possible when such usurpation of power takes place. Not an ideal solution, but a solution nonetheless.
We are not going as a nation to last till the next presidential election...I make that prediction and there is nothing anyone can say, short of he has a massive and fatal heart attack, that is going to make me change my mind. Frankly, it is not just him, he is the symptom of everything wrong with this nation now from lack of motivation to work, to a moral decay prevalent in our entire structure, to our having been balkanized by both racial and wealth denigration and by an education system completely ruined.
Would not you think the same when no opposition to whatever you would do? Yes, he IS the law & this nation is now a joke.
I said something like you are hinting about here last evening. You are probably on to the solution but I want to be careful to say I am not advocating such to happen because in today’s environment that would be big trouble to anyone advocating that.
Unfortunately If Diogonese and his lamp were back today and in DC looking for people of fortitude willing to take the moral and legal paths to get rid us of this tyrant, his oil lamp would need be fueled by a super tanker because it would run dry trying to locate such individuals in our elected government.
Reading through the Federal Papers dealing with the advice and consent issues, I took note of their belief in high minded and moral people of character and substance who would do the right thing in government. Now then, today I don’t think many in the country would look at our government officials being people of good character and morally straight. In fact, it is almost the opposite.
IMO, it is time for a redo.
There it is: The Obama presidency in full relief -- "I'm smarter...and more powerful...than you. If you don't like what I'm doing, just try and stop me."
Literally, a tyrant-in-progress.
Another three years of this will bring the republic to its demise.
Are you watching and listening, Republicans? Are you going to defend the republic? Are you up to playing the role of the "loyal opposition"?
Or are you going to cower in a corner...???
The king need not consult with lawyers when he is not bound to follow the law. If the president does something it can’t be illegal. Isn’t that the rule by the divine right of kings? That’s Obama!
When I first heard Obama speak after he had announced for president, I thought he is my concept of the sorcerer's apprentice.
He looks at the presidency with his limited knowledge of what is involved and having never managed anything in his life decides that he can do a better job than the current occupant.

I agree, I don’t think that they had forseen a day where the electorate would actually be this stupid to elect such people. Clinton was a good example. There was a day, not that long ago, where a politician caught in such a scandal (and scandalous behavior has been going on since time immoral, so to speak) would simply do the right thing, resign and disappear from public, or perhaps I should say pubic, life. Instead, we got a very ugly display and a botched impeachment, because “the other side” couldn’t bear the consequences of losing. There is no “moral turpitude” clause in any office because it really didn’t seem like we needed one. Still, the history books kids will read about that era won’t contain any details - because they are STILL almost unprintable! In a way, it was ingenious.
And each violation of the oath of office or the constitution convinces him even further that he is supreme. All he hears from his equal branches of government are whimpers.
Obama explained that if Congress doesnt like what hes done, then lawmakers can try to do something about it. Im not concerned about their opinions, the president said. Very few of them, by the way, are lawyers, much less constitutional lawyers. And some Republicans think I usurp my authority by having the gall to win the presidency.
I can't believe the HOR is still compromising with him, just enough sellouts each issue so he wins.
For heavens sake, they couldn't get the votes to stop NSA from spying on citizens!
I sent my rep, Mo Brooks an email asking him to explain to me whe Obama isn't in violation of the impoundment act and I did not receive a response,
Can a Manchurian Candidate be considered rogue when he does what he was placed in power to do? I'd say neither "rogue" nor "President" applies to the communist in our White House, and I pray daily that our country will still be recoverable when we finally toss that corrupt druggie out of power.
I wonder how the state run media had reported this if Bush 43 was still president.
I wonder how many have ever considered another reason for the current (gotta do it now!) mad push for illegal immigration, is to get them into the system and accounted for ASAP,
Not only for the supposed additional tax revenue, but for the reason that when this corrupt obamantioncare kicks in and the government has complete visibility and access to all of your activities and financial records. Americans might begin to see if for what it really is, total control over every aspect of their lives, their freedom is surrendered, their constitutional rights are dead,
whereas being able to survive ‘illegal’ outside of this corrupt system may begin to have some appeal,
So we can’t have millions across the land going about day to day doing this already,
Defense....... he’s trying to play defense
Fail
He’s on the run
Nope. Whatever they have up their sleeves, whatever goal they have in mind for this nation and therefore themselves, both sides are in on it.
