Malicious statements without fact are able to be prosecuted, yes.
Angela Corey is nothing but an ignorant, tawdry slut. Her State of Florida Special Prosecutor’s office COVERED UP that Travon Martin had kiddie porn on his cell phone, as well as pics of him menacingly holding a handgun. But, their IT guy testified to the truth, and he was then FIRED by her for that!!
She’s just doubling down on stupid, isn’t she?
She needs to be censured, fined, and disbarred.

She misled and may have perjured the accusatory document leading to Zimmerman's arrest.
She held back information from 'discovery'
Released only some data to the Defense team that was on TM's cell phone
Released information in 'dribs and drabs', over the one an one half year awaiting trial ,
some information only a couple of weeks before trial, thus limiting the defense team preparation.
And you question her legal ethics ?
She has already demonstrated her ethics ~ and should be terminated ,"DISBARRED !", and held accountable .

Corey is in office because she was elected. AT THE TIME they were the preferable candidates in the running. Obviously we (here on FR) won’t be doing that again.

As a Florida voter I cannot tell you how disappointed I am in Pam Bondi and Rick Scott..
I was never a huge Scott fan...but just damn...he left this farce continue...
Why is it that before the trial he has to be called an alleged murderer, but after his acquittal he's a full-fledged murderer?

Do any FReepers know that when Zimm sues NBC for libel or defamation or whatever charge applies to prejudicing a jury with willful misrepresentation of him as ‘profiling blacks’, DOES HE HAVE TO BE PRESENT DURING THE HEARING OR TRIAL?? Can he win such a case without being present, and just let his attorneys perhaps ‘settle’ with NBC for an undisclosed sum?
Whether she was expressing her personal opinion or the position of the State could be argued, and the difference may matter.
As I told another poster, I'm a GZ supporter all the way. Please don't misunderstand my comment to mean whether he is a "murderer" is arguable.
I just mean there are arguments she could make surrounding the comment being true/false, personal/official, etc. If he sues her, I hope all her arguments to that effect fail. I'd love to see all of these filthy prosecution as*h*les selling oranges on the side of the freeway.

Typically a plaintiff need not be at the trial, but their testimony is usually required in order to make the full case, even if its just to prove up damages.
In any event, the defendant could subpoena him or her to trial if they wanted to.
Probably angling for a new position with Holder's Justice Department, Civil Rights Division.
