Dr. Helen Smith: American society has become anti-male. Men are sensing the backlash and are consciously and unconsciously going "on strike." They are dropping out of college, leaving the workforce and avoiding marriage and fatherhood at alarming rates. The trend is so pronounced that a number of books have been written about this "man-child" phenomenon, concluding that men have taken a vacation from responsibility simply because they can. But why should men participate in a system that seems to be increasingly stacked against them?
As Men on Strike demonstrates, men aren't dropping out because they are stuck in arrested development. They are instead acting rationally in response to the lack of incentives society offers them to be responsible fathers, husbands and providers. In addition, men are going on strike, either consciously or unconsciously, because they do not want to be injured by the myriad of laws, attitudes and hostility against them for the crime of happening to be male in the twenty-first century. Men are starting to fight back against the backlash. Men on Strike explains their battle cry.

I have a sneaking suspicion that everyone’s getting screwed by the mistrust and latent anger that’s developed between the sexes these days.
Worse, marriage - the most fundamental building block of any society - is passing ‘out of fashion.’
Yet another factor leading to the weakening of society both here and abroad, too.
I won’t mention the thoughts that have gone thru my mind about the bum. He even kicked his old girlfriend out when my wife moved in. She hit him in the face with a fire extinguisher.
Too bad she didn’t hit him hard enough and cave his skull in.
Men are leaving colleges, because they aren’t wanted there.
BFL - this could be a good thread.
Figured this out years ago.
Worked hard to make a place for two, but the current crop in my age range are not worth the bother.
Retire next year with a great pension, own my home.
I wanted a partner to care for, not a liability.
It is not what I wanted, to be without a wife, but it is the lesser of two evils.
Pity
I couldn’t have written that. It was only 21 years.
Besides, her boyfriend then got his other girlfriend pregnant.
The new boyfriend has a very nice place in a trailer park.
Do you want to collaberate on a real-life Sitcom. I’ve been told mine would be hilarious.
“I wont mention the thoughts that have gone thru my mind about the bum.”
Definitely a good idea. Perry Mason is dead.
i am tired of people who ignore who they are with over phonecalls from people who are absent, talk with them for 20 minutes, then they ‘get back to you’.
Let’s see when your choices are
1) Single Moms that have 2-3 kids from different thug fathers/races
or
2) Sandra Fluke type Feminists who put their “fulfilling” career first and hate you for being a man but think they are entitled for you to give them everything
or
3) Sleep around, play video games
It’s easy to see why men choose #3
“Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?”
Or as Al Bundy once said when accused of cheating, “Why go out for milk when you have a cow at home”?
Best line of the entire series.
Excellent synopsis.
OMG! We’re doomed!
Of course, the other side of that coin occurred this morning at my firm: potential client comes in, asks for a document we’d already given him, then asks my (very attractive) legal assistant, “So, do you have kids?”. She says no, she has a dog. He hems and haws, then says, “Are you single?”. She says yes, he says, “Want to go to lunch?”
Holy crap, dude, you’re twice her age, annoying as hell and have a “magic water machine” business! And she’s ON MY CLOCK! I wasn’t present when this took place, she came back to my office and told me about it. I told her to call me immediately the next time he comes in the door. What a creep.
To me it looks like a classic case of ‘Meth Head’ boyfriend. 10-1 mama’s on the pipe.
introverted nerds that believe they are perfect and are told deserve the best of everything.
hard to find mrs right when they are all mrs always right.
Unfortunately, many women have chosen to join. Those who haven't probably have far less trouble finding a decent guy.
They are, but only if they are "diverse" enough.
I heard two women say, in all seriousness, yesterday that “you can marry in a day more money than you can earn in a lifetime.”
I almost puked.
Been single 24 years, have been paying alimony 24 years. I won’t make that mistake again. BTW, I got all 4 kids and the bills. She got the house and the alimony.
Your #2 is spot on.
Another thing I have encountered is single women who don’t have the intestinal fortitude to raise their children. Lots of good stories there.
