Today, June 28th, is DAY #15 (of 3rd week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case. [Yesterday] … it was simply not a very good day at all for the prosecution. The primary State witnesses today were Rachel Jeantel, Jenna Lauer, and Selma Mora.
The first had her credibility substantively destroyed, the second was powerfully–almost humiliatingly–co-opted by the defense, and the third provided testimony entirely consistent with the defense’s theory of lawful self-defense. (continue reading)

It’s when the judge makes a decision of “not guilty” without leaving it up to the jury to decide.

In a criminal case in the United States, once the prosecution has closed its case, the defendant may move for a directed verdict. If granted, the verdict will be "not guilty". The prosecution may never seek a directed verdict of guilty, as the defendant has a constitutional right to present a defense and rebut the prosecution's case and have a jury determine guilt or innocence (where a defendant has waived his/her right to a jury trial and allowed the judge to render the verdict, this still applies).

The only case the prosecution has is that the beating was not that bad and Z overreacted by shooting. I think that is a bs argument and I would offer to give Bernie that beating if he thinks it is no big deal.
That is consistent with what Zimmerman stated. He was on top after the gunshot, and that is what these witnesses saw.

I’m still trying to figure out how that guy managed to get all those bruises on his face while he was sitting on top of Trayvon. Did he keep bringing his face down close to Trayvon so he could get whopped again and again?
Those wounds on the back of his head are even more perplexing. Has anyone heard any MSNBC theories how he got those wounds?
If Zim was on top how did he get grass stains on his back and injuries on the back of his head.
I agree that appears to be the new talking points with the “expert” court observers as well.
I would say the beating didn’t get any worse because Zimmerman ended it before it could.
It’s not as if Martin was stopping even though Z was calling for help.

The state has been claiming that GZ followed Martin after he hung up with NEN, but according to John Good’s recollection of events the beatdown lasted a long time [time for him to hear it, go outside and see it, then come in and go upstairs and call 911 and look out the window when he heard the gunshot] leaving no time for a chase or following. That could be as long as 2 to 2.5 minutes.

The state narrative just suffered a deadly blow in a way that they have yet to realize. It also means that Jeantel may have been on the phone with Martin listening to entire beatdown — contrary to what she claims.
