Text of decision here.
“This wouldnt have happened if Ronald Reagan had done his homework.”
Same can be said of George W. Bush and his appointment of John Roberts, who matador’ed through Obamacare, a law that will destroy healthcare in this country. All GOP appointments to the SCOTUS should be measured against Clarence Thomas — anyone left of him is out.
Many states explicitly require by law consummation of marriage for the vows to be considered valid. They include Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Ohio, South Carolina, Vermont and Wisconsin.

Ok Good- flat and fair tax for all then.
Nope. No surprise whatsoever.
I will NEVER endorse marriage other than between one man and one woman.
NEVER!
Conservatives would understand the federal government has no jurisdiction over marriage. I would tend to thank Republicans for broadening the illegal scope of federal power with DOMA. As another posted, if the federal government stuck to the Constitution, all the "marriage benefits" would be eliminated and restricting those benefits would be a non sequitur.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation. I’m no tax expert. I do my own taxes on Turbotax, cross my eyes and hope for the best!
In all fairness to RWR Kennedy was his third choice (after Bork and Ginsberg).
Divorce Lawyers Rejoice!
Psalm 83, Ezekiel 38 and 39, Revelation 19...coming soon.
Reagan still yielded to the path of least resistance: too busy chopping wood, I guess. He was also warned about O’Connor but insisted on placing a woman on the court, as he had pledged in the 1980 campaign. Reagan was too little, too late.
DING,DING, DING, DING, DING!
Mom's past on. Daddy's worth a $billion. Guess what comes next....
People have a right to their Federal benefits based on state-sanctioned sodomy.
Game, set, match. Now, on to polygamy!
Yes but now all the other states with their mostly left leaning courts will just toss out their amendments as well. Why is it a STATE issue but then they let the lower COURT order of over turning what the STATE wanted stand?
Oh well, you know what this issue has been forced down our throats and nobody stood up against it hard enough. Frankly I’m more pissed over the Obamacare ruling. That is going to be more destructive than anything in the long run including the immigration bill if passed.
If we are going into perdition, we might as well go headlong. I’m hoping that this hastens the societal decent into lawlessness, so that a real society rooted in righteousness might rise from the ashes.
Kennedy flipped. Never forget he gave legalized sodomy in the Texas decision, so this is not much of a surprise. If the court comes out and says all states have to recognize
queer “marriage” performed in any state, this country is done.
Finished. So far they did not say that. IF they have any sense they will leave marriage up the states. Federal gubment never had any right getting involved anyway.
The country is beyond saving...cry out to G-d as individuals. King Josiah comes to mind...
The really tragedy of this decision is for what it means for our Military. If you think the attacks were bad before, they now have a LICENSE to attack Christian views unhindered.
I guess the “S” in USA stands for Sodomites.
Kennedy a LIBERTARIAN?????
That’s a hoot. He’s a big government liberal.
