Thanks for the mention. I had wondered and this seem to be the case.
I wish everyone the best and more that has ipf. My oldest brother was diagnosed two years ago this month with it, and we lost him a short two weeks later. The experience brought home to my family just how precious life is, and going through the experience, learning about ipf and other illnesses, several in our family decided to become donors.
Such a cutie! Prayers for her and the family.
Comes back, but it’s a new start. I have a friend who had a lung transplant about 10 years ago - still doing okay.
“The only people the left wants to keep alive are murderers in prison on death row.”
And they are eligible for transplants, too.
Prayers Up.
The minute I heard this story on my car radio this AM, I said “Thank You, God.”
Thanks Wicket. I appreciate the mention.
Goodness, I want this child to live desperately. But CF is deadly. Suppose she does, or lives for only a short time?
I fear that would have Sebelius et al looking like they were right.
Good bless this little girl.
He had been going to doctors and getting diagnosed with ‘pneumonia’ for about 2 years. They would do rounds of antibiotics and such and say he was fine, then it would happen again. He was a heavy smoker and we think that may have camoflauged some of his symptoms. He also had md which may have been what they excused some of his issues with. It wasn’t until he went to the er with what they called a heart attack that they realized there was something a lot worse wrong with him, his heart was fine, not so his lungs.
Prayers sent for the child Sarah and also for her family, the donor and the donor’s family.
Surgery is over and it was a success..Sarah is in ICU and the doctors had no issues during the operation which started at 11am..God Bless Sarah and her amazing family..she has a long road ahead of her but she is a fighter
Thanks for the update. God is good.
If she’s at Children’s Hospital, she couldn’t be in better hands.
Just saw the update on twitter so thought I would pass it on..and God bless the donor family, it could not have been an easy decision but now this beautiful child has a chance to do something we all take for granted and that is breathe
Pennsylvania girl's double-lung transplant a success, family says
Yep. They put her ahead in the line because of public outcry which is troubling. However one could argue she should have already been waiting for quite a while had that done this right to begin with. so it probably evens out
The little girl may not live long, but I think it will advance the science behind lung transplants.
Also, this little girl is the size of many 12 year olds, the cut off point for adult organs. I think size is more important then chronological age, and were she put on the transplant list earlier, as I think she should have been, I think she would have been near the top without outside interference or publicity.
I wish you the best.
