Judge Napolitano: NSA Leaker Andrew Snowden "An American Hero" (Video at URL
Real Clear Politics ^ | 6/10/2013 | Ian Schwartz

Posted on 06/10/2013 4:36:24 PM PDT by Laissez-faire capitalist

JUDGE ANDREW NAPOLITANO: I would describe this man as an American hero, as a person willing to risk life, limb and liberty in order to expose to the American people one of the most extraordinary violations of the American principles, value judgments and the Constitution itself in all of our history.

A person so familiar with the intelligence community, as you just heard from the excerpts that you just played. He's aware of the personal danger to himself. He knows of the likelihood of prosecution. But he also understands that the government listening to half the country is not what was bargained for when statues were enacted in the days and weeks after 9/11...

LOL...any guy who corrals support from Code Pink has followers that are both liberal and demented. That about covers a good part of the spectrum.

Actually, all the leftwingtards aren't on the same page with this guy ~ and neither are Conservatives.

My personal opinion is that the story hasn't played out enough that it's a wise to SIDE WITH HIM ~ in fact, just the opposite.

I see an Alger Hiss moment coming when this guy is revealed as a Chinese agent.

Worth noting that Hiss sided with Sacco and Vanzetti and maintained they were innocent ~ and a similar group in the Boston area consists of young, impressionable women who want Dzhokhar Tsarnaev to father their babies.

Showing up waving a flag for Snowden may well damage your credit rating as well as your credibility~and ladies, since he's running around loose, and Tsarnaev isn't, this is your chance to get a real sperm donation from the current hero of the gullible and naive.

I think he’s more of a Paul-ite, with liberal tenancies. He went third party, but was hopeful Obama would right the wrongs of the past. That’s a total definition of the Ron Paul anti-Bush feelings of 2008.

It is Judge Andrew Napolitano, as you would see if you played the video at the link.

We didn't hear him criticize the ObamaKKKare operation that's going to bankrupt the middle class, reduce the working poor to slavery, and probably starve to death the nonworking poor, elderly, babies, and orphans.

To a degree it's possible to evaluate someone in terms of what they don't disagree with. I think he's a hard core Maoist.

I support The Bill of Rights generally, the 4th Amendment particularly, and Snowden’s exposing Obama’s abuse of both.

If you would prefer a country that spies on your every move, I understand NORTH KOREA is taking immigrants. And you won’t have to worry about us pesky liberty minded Freepers when you get there.

So, please feel free .... don’t let the door hit you and all that.

Showing up waving a flag for Snowden may well damage your credit rating

No offense but what would that have to do with someone’s
credit rating, unless other forces ARE at play here.

Don’t forget Benghazi! This is big, but its NOT BENGHAZI! This was all leaked for a reason. Same thing with the IRS and now the insider trading at HHS. Keep your eye on the BALL! BENGHAZI and only BENGHAZI takes them ALL DOWN!

Conspiracy theorists of the right and left think that he is some kind of hero.

Advocates of strong government on right and left think he is a demon.

Those who are more considered realize that: (1) if what he says is exactly accurate in all respects, then it was important for the American people to know about it, and (2) if he were a hero, he would have stayed in the US and demanded justice.

When Snowden praises Manning, one needs to reflect a bit.

If you prefer a country that fails to use the best possible surveillance technology to keep track of foreign enemies, or those who could be enemies, may I recommend Saudi Arabia ~ they do it the old fashioned way ~ first, nobody comes in without signing a contract, and then they gotta' stay in Riyadh.

The religious police take care of everything from that point on.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out ~ and planes are leaving hourly from numerous points.

I’m referring to Snowden, not Napolitano, as you would see if you had understood my question.

As I said in my post, surveillance can, in my opinion, be regulated and stopped, often very quickly.

Liberalism, on the other hand, cannot be easily undone. It is like a brain tumor, reaching into the sulci and crevasses of government, society and culture to the point where it cannot be removed without killing the host, which it eventually kills anyway.

Liberalism is the chicken, and this surveillance is the egg.

I hear ya, but the congresscritters won’t ask relevant questions, like: What were over 30 CIA guys doing there? Etc.

I think it is a case of if you are for big government, Right or Left, you hate this guy. If you are for little government, Right or Left, you support this guy.
The Left, although not monolithic, pretty much support big government - so they are nearly unanimous in their hatred for Snowden. The Right is more split between its big government and little government supporters.

This is one good explanation for the schism. I would add that people who have had power abused against them are more likely to be supportive of him, and the inverse.

After we have our Alger Hiss moment, credit ratings will suffer ~ and there’s nothing any of us can do about it. But in today’s world there’ll be no beating about the bush like in the days of HUAC and its antiquated notions of public hearings. The internet will do its job instantaneously!

How can a terrorist (or anyone) use a disposable phone without a contract with a telephone company? Clue me in here. Is there a short term contract that is so short it doesn’t require identifying the user?

I’m serious. I don’t know the answer.

I don’t think this is a right/left issue. It appears this guy, unlike Bradly Manning was careful not to release info that would put people in danger. The only people that are endangered are the ones whose heads may roll for running such a overbearing dragnet. I have mixed views on him. Manning I felt was a traitor. This guy I’m taking a wait and see attitude on. It doesn’t look good him going to Hong Cong though. The government is definitely pushing the boundaries of legitimacy. Someone needed to speak out.

I view him the same way I view an enemy traitor in a time of war who provides my side with information. The traitor may have all kinds of reasons for his actions (I felt I wasn’t getting the appropriate recognition or promotion, I didn’t agree with the direction of the war, etc) but he still supports the basic beliefs of the side he betrays.

Our government is at war alright. At war against the American people and our freedom - not Islamists. Obama’s people are using the government police state to harass and smear his political and social opponents as domestic terrorists. I’ve read seen the documents targeting all conservative groups and Vets.
