A Texas high school silenced its Valedictorians microphone during his speech when he diverted from his pre-approved remarks and instead spoke about the Constitution.

Back to school for you. Public owned, control vested in a school board. Schools are not democracies.
Instead of changing what I WROTE go use some of those public buildings that the public owns....say the library.
He that pays the piper calls the tune, and thats especially true for any government entitlement program.
If it seems odd to you that’s good since you seem not to understand the prerogatives of ownership and control.
Nominal control.
Ultimate control resides in the people. You seem to have forgotten that part. So did the school thugs.

It's their 'big lie'.
They've told that lie for years - which is why the MSM always assumes any mass killing is done by conservatives. It's always a radical Muslim - and the MSM has to back down - but hope springs eternal with the little haters... and the next time a mass killing happens - they make the same assumption: White guy - maybe conservative... And they're always wrong.
The closest we need to come to civil disobedience is praying in public and at school graduations. Really, that totally gets under their skin. We will not fulfill their delusions.
Not the kid’s soapbox, the school’s and he had formed an agreement on what was to be said so 1st. amend. doesn’t enter into the question. Simple as that.
“Ultimate control resides in the people. You seem to have forgotten that part. So did the school thugs.”
Then anyone of “the people” can walk into the school and use any equipment they wish for whatever they wish. Right. Try that out some time and let me know how it works out.
What is under discussion is corrective action by the people to return the educrat thugs to their proper role in society.
Which includes schoolchildren speaking freely, IAW the Constitution of the US.

Well, you may be correct, at least in the sense that I presumed you would be able to follow a simple and obvious elementary school analogy.
“What is under discussion....” What is under discussion is some kid thinking he can do what he wants despite an agreement made. He didn't keep his agreement and had his soapbox taken away. Boo-Hoo and tough but that's life.
I will work to ensure in Texas that schools are not in that position in the future. I've already written my local rep and senator.
The people will get the last word. The schools will not.
Their rules suck.

Yippeee-skippeee! Be sure to toss in the phrase, “Power to the people!”, they'll be impressed.
I also have the ((((Boot Dewhurst in 2014)))) ping list here on FR.

A Texas high school silenced its Valedictorians microphone during his speech
Better planning next year: Set up a simple speaker with receiver and a wireless mic prior to arrival of the crowd. Probably wouldn’t even be noticed during setup.
Wear the wireless mic when giving the speech and let them panic while trying to cut the student off.
he was fully aware of the schools rules and decided to shirk them.
Rightfully so. Schools enforcing “approved speech” only deserve a challenge to their policies of speech repression. They can justify all they wish but these policies need to be challenged head on.
Amarillo ... or anywhere north of that might work for you then. They get snow up that way.
TX has a lot more RINOs than one would think: they just don’t use the term here.
Dewhurst may have four opponents: a good recipe for keeping him around, but thankfully there is a runoff possible again.
