A Texas high school silenced its Valedictorians microphone during his speech when he diverted from his pre-approved remarks and instead spoke about the Constitution.

Go head, make the argument we are not on a precipice of a totalitarian state.
I guess that school authorities need to go to constitution class remediation.
I probably support the young man’s views on the Constitution wholeheartedly; however, he was fully aware of the school’s rules and decided to shirk them. For his sake, I hope he learns to abide by rules more closely at Annapolis. Godspeed on his time there and in serving our country.
My daughter is Valedictorian....she won’t let me write her speech....
Government schools are training students that they have no freedom of speech if government officials do not approve of what they say, totally unconstitutional.
he Superintendent and principal and school board members should be taken to court over this.
School District ordered to eliminate any reference to our Constitution by the Obama/Duncan Common Core Education Mandate?
I’m sick of the pre approved speech crap.
Let the kids say what they want as long as its within reasonable common decency norms.
What surprises me most is that this happened in Texas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There was a time I would have agreed with you but no longer.
As the left has taught us, there are time you need to “speak truth to power”
For the elite in this nation, only one view is protected speech, anything else is “hate speech”.
If you go along with their “rule” then you surrender your rights as a free person.
I applaud all those that are standing up to petty dictators in this nation.
I certainly ignore plenty of stupid and petty rules, and live as a free man.

In Texas, of all places!!! And pursuant to “policy and procedure.”
I told ya, Texas has an issue. Austin can not be contained.
Fair to wonder if he offered his Constitution speech and it was rejected.
Our Constitution is hate speech now?
Quite a slick trick, actually. Take money from people at gunpoint in the name of education that they could have spent on their children's education, then the schools you provide are forbidden from teaching them what you believe, only what the government wants them to believe.
That is a pertinent question and I’d like to know that as well. If I were him, I’d submit his non-approved speech for publication in an editorial or a friendly blog — like this one.
Even in Texas, government schools stink. Parents who care will find a way to avoid these indoctrination centers that scar their children. The sacrifices required are well worth it.
I suppose if they had launched into some obscene tirade or something of the sort, the principal would have took it upon himself to cut off the mike, but that was about it.
I remember the class president/jock launching into what many of us thought was an inappropriate tirade against parents/students whom he felt didn't show sufficient support for high school athletics and team sports, but we figured that it was more or less balanced out by the class valedictorian whose talk included this tribute to Jesus Christ which put things into a more proper perspective.
Looks like this was near Dallas.
