There are a lot of reasons to think twice before getting something permanently drawn on your body. One is that people still treat those with tattoos differently than those without. One recent study, for instance, looked at how men treat women with tattoos. What they found was that men are more likely to approach a woman with a tattoo and more likely to expect a date or sex with that woman.
Heres how the study worked. Researchers had women place temporary tattoos on their lower backs and sent them to a well-known beach. The women were instructed to lay on the beach reading a book, staying on their stomachs so that the tattoo was visible. There were two parts to this study. In the first one, once the woman was in place, researchers watched and counted how many men approached her. In the second, once the woman assumed her position, a male researcher walked around the beach and asked random men whether they would be willing to respond to three questions about a girl somewhere on the beach. Every single man they approached said yes.
Heres how the researchers summarized their results:
Two experiments were conducted. The first experiment showed that more men (N = 220) approached the tattooed confederates and that the mean latency of their approach was quicker. A second experiment showed that men (N = 440) estimated to have more chances to have a date and to have sex on the first date with tattooed confederates.
Interestingly, the study did refute an earlier finding about women with tattoos. In 2007, researchers from the University of Liverpool showed that men rated women with tattoos as physically less attractive, but sexually more promiscuous than those without. In this study, researchers found that physical attractivenessas rated by the men on the beach who agreed to answer questions about the womanwasnt impacted by the tattoo. Another study in 2005 also found that tattoos dont change attractiveness, but do negatively impact a persons credibility, regardless of their gender.
So tattoos might not be bad for picking up dudes at the beach, but they might impact what those dudes think of you in the long run.
You beat me to it...but said it much better than I would have.
My ex-sil had a very large tattoo on her abdomen and lower stomach. She was very proud of it and displayed it everytime she could..at that time in her mid 20’s.
She is now in her late 30’s and has four kids. I can’t help but wonder how that tatt survived aging and child bearing, lol.
nothing screams cheap skank like tongue piercing.
My last girlfriend was a smoking hot Costa Rican babe with a killer accent and lots of tattoos. They didn’t bother me a bit.
What will the daughters of today's pierced and tattooed young women do to distinguish themselves from their mothers? They might go back to the unenhanced natural look, or they might go full National Geographic.
AKA Ass Antlers.
That’s rather mesmerizing. What was the thread about again?
I detest tattoos on women, though I’m ok with a small meaningful one in decent location. My friend has a small indian paint brush (very meaningful to her) on her ankle. What I hate more than that is eyebrow rings and nose rings, all that sais to me is “I’m a pretentious liberal douche...look at me look at me”
which is why she was your girlfriend and not your wife :)
So it looks as though there is a strap to hold up a top. Is this thing female?
I have no idea why any Dr would do such a thing - the so called Dr is as sick as the whatever it is who got this done. Although I suppose you can say it’s free expression...and doing what you want with your own body...but geez!
It’s always more upsetting to me to see otherwise pretty young things with tattoos.
Those tattoos are dubbed “tramp stamps” for a reason.
You never go full National Geographic.
garbage.
utter BS to make beautiful women feel insecure.
Putting an Asian pictograph tat on oneself is exceedingly stupid for obvious reasons.
My niece is literally covered in tats. And she looks like a pathetic moron. Which, sadly, she is.
I have seen too many women in their 40s and 50s with tats that haven’t aged well, to say the least. On boobs that have grown significantly larger and hang a lot lower than when the tat was put on. These college girls think they will have firm boobs and tight butts forever. Just gotta chuckle at that one.
garbage.
utter BS to make beautiful women feel insecure.
Helen Thomas, watch your six.
They didn’t get the name Tramp Stamp just for grins.
