PHOENIX (Reuters) - A federal judge on Friday found hardline Arizona lawman Joe Arpaio had violated the constitutional rights of Latino drivers in his crackdown on illegal immigration, and ordered him to stop using race as a factor in law enforcement decisions.
The ruling against the Maricopa County sheriff came in response to a class-action lawsuit brought by Hispanic drivers that tested whether police can target illegal immigrants without racially profiling Hispanic citizens and legal residents.
U.S. District Court Judge Murray Snow ruled that the sheriff's policies violated the drivers' constitutional rights and ordered his office to cease using race or ancestry as a grounds to stop, detain or hold occupants of vehicles - some of them in crime sweeps dubbed "saturation patrols."

I’ve never been ticketed in one either. That doesn’t stop the ‘Papers please’.
Feels like check-point Charlie.
Snow was nominated by President George W. Bush
What a shock!
Sheriff Joe has given us more reasons for us to trust him than any judge who was once a lawyer. Most judges at the state level are already politically corrupt. “Good judges stay bought” so we know what that means when they rise to “higher” offices and rule FOR the government.
Yep. I love Sheriff Joe.
I have no doubt whatsoever that this ruling came from a corrupt statist judge.
And were I the Sheriff, I’d be very tempted to do just as Obama has done and see what exactly this judge would be willing to do to actually enforce his ruling, because if a court does nothing to enforce its rulings, why obey them? As Obama has shown.
Of course, I expect this judge would go to the ends of the earth to enforce his ruling, whereas those courts that have had their ruling defied by Obama just kind of do nothing.
Puh-leaze! Bush knew exactly was he was doing. He and his entire family are hard core Globalists that have done everything in their power to undermine our Constitutional Republic and the future of this nation. If Bush could have gotten away with it he would have rounded up every Third-world illiterate he could find south of the border and ship them up here by cattle car.
This naivety among conservatives is downright dangerous and is the reason our country is in so much peril.
Ya think judges are afraid of IRS audits now?
That’s okay. I’m closer to your view than you think. There are still a lot of closet Bush supporters here. It’s not going to change their mind to get hit over the head with it, but mentioning it in a more non confrontational tone will wake them up so they won’t go all-in again for another globalist. At least I would hope not.
I regard the flooding of this nation with third worlders, to be the globalist tell. And so when I see our fair haired favorites going squishy on this one issue, it tells me volumes.
Folks must wake up and smell the stink-weeds when it comes to certain fair-haired favorites, political idols.
It was already like that a century ago, once the robber barons’ economic conspiracies had outrun the law, and then bought up the law on the quiet so as to become the law. Government schooling **as we know it today** is a product of all that.
You know, when I was a kid I went to public schools for a few years. Back then they were truly healthy environments. They taught patriotism, good types of civics lessons, history, math..., they worked to turn out really great citizens. And I don’t mean the hoodwinked propagandized kind either.
Today these schools are cesspools. It’s a national disgrace.
Our federal government shouldn’t be involved, and for damn sure UNESCO shouldn’t be. UNESCO is the instigator of a lot of this subterfuge.
Have Federales investigators located the guy who mailed Sheriff Joe a bomb the week before the Boston bombing attack and 2 weeks before the “ricin letters” that we heard about?
Guess that was another “local crime story” that the MSM doesn’t cover.
Sheriff needs to pull the judge over and arrest him and put him in jail with a bunch of these thugs and let them gang rape his liberal tail a few times and he will see what he is allowing into the country.
The ruling by this "judge" is just insane.
Sheriff Joe should use crime statistics to pick locations for the pullovers and then no judge could find him discriminatory.
The several states have rights and laws that are enforceable as well do they not?
State laws do not have to pass the same federal muster because they are state specific. If there are laws on the books in AZ that make it a crime to be undeclared (no proof of citizenship), then enforce them accordingly. Anyone who is here legitimately generally has either a valid state issued ID, insurance, visa, green card, etc... If people can’t handle following the laws of whatever state they’re in as a visitor, then they make themselves targets.
There are any number of ways to deal with this insipid ruling while still accomplishing the same goal of booting illegal alien invaders out of AZ should Arpaio decide to do so.
BTW... I’m pretty sure Arpaio is intelligent enough to figure this out on his own.
“If there are laws on the books in AZ that make it a crime to be undeclared (no proof of citizenship), then enforce them accordingly.”
That would be SB1070 (http://www.law.cornell.edu/supremecourt/text/11-182#writing-11-182_OPINION_3), passed to make it a state crime to be here illegally. The Supreme Court ruled it unconstitutional.
Personally, I think Arizona has every right to decide who is allowed in Arizona. I would be willing to trade higher immigration from Mexico in exchange for keeping Californians and anyone from the NE US out!
There are a ton of other state laws to enforce. Also, tell the Feds to enforce their ruling - what are they going to do, invade AZ?
I knew about that ruling, but I was being a bit tongue in cheek in my initial response.
Its Duck season. No, its Rabbit season.
All three branches of the Federal Government are hell-bent on starting another civil war.
If he's violating the 14th Amendment, yes.
