It remains to be seen if Issa has the stones to recall that skank and force her testimony.

Lawyers need to do their homework and work this until a whole bunch of people are in jail.

Keep working their way up the ladder.

She refused to answer questions. Yet she badly miscalculated. She began with a self-righteous opening statement claiming she did nothing wrong. Only after defending herself did she invoke her Fifth Amendment rights.

At what point can she be slapped with a charge of Contempt of Congress?

Trey will make them get over the belief that a Southern drawl equals stupidity.

Issa just made the statement that she may have waived her right to use the 5th Amendment against self-incrimination by presenting facts in an opening statement. Apparently they’ve been doing some legal work on this and it appears they are of the opinion that she will be compelled to testify now. WOW!!!

From the article:

"Republicans on the committee thought they had been defeated, but Gowdy knew better. Once a person issues a statement, Fifth Amendment privilege is waived on the substance of the statement. By issuing an opening statement, Ms. Lerner was testifying. Her right to stay silent on that testimony was gone forever.

A panicked liberal Elijah Cummings of Maryland pointed out that while congressional hearings are “like” a court of law, they are not in actuality a court of law. Even Congressman Issa, normally a very sharp and prepared operator, had to check on whether Gowdy’s interpretation applied.

It absolutely does."

Got her!! Nail her lying hide to the wall!!

I like Gowdy. I didn’t even know who he was until a couple of weeks ago. We need more Republicans like this dude.

And this ladies and gentlemen is why you actually make them appear and assert their 5th amendment right in person instead of just telling them they don’t have to come after receiving a letter from their lawyer saying that they intend to invoke that right if compelled to appear.

President Obama has finally met his match

Obama is not the problem. The problem is the father of lies and none of us is a match for him.

Rep. Gowdy is definitely no dummy. Saw the video of him making his point this morning in the committee and he left no doubt in my mind he was right.

We badly need more Congressmen and Senators just like him!

He was a prosecutor, and his interrogation skills reflect a superb intellect.

Not to mention an eye for the jugular.

It was fun watching that live. We need more folks like Gowdy in the House.

Heck, we could use a few in the Senate too...

"While coastal snobs may consider him a “hick” or a “hilbilly,” Gowdy is all brains."

I'd much rather listen to this man than someone from the NE like Head Kennedy or Chuck Shumer.

I like Rowdy Gowdy...

Trey Gowdy is BRILLIANT!! Issa also, perhaps unknowingly, caused Lerner to ‘testify’ to a report he had handed to her. LOL She should’ve immediately stated her refusal to testify in response to a document inquiry.

Sen. Sam Ervin, D-NC, had a thick Southern drawl and called himself “a country lawyer”, but he was the toast of the liberal media as he headed the Senate Watergate investigation that ended with Nixon’s resignation.

Let’s see how the Obamedia regards Rep. Gowdy, R-SC, as he pursues the crooks in the Obama administration. Perhaps they will miscalculate in regarding him as a hick from the wrong side of the tracks.

Opening statement messed her up. Claim your innocents and then clam up taking the 5th.
