A new poll finds that a majority of Americans believes the Internal Revenue Service targeting scandal was an intentional effort to harass conservative political groups.
In a Washington Post/ABC News poll released Tuesday, 56 percent said the IRS use of higher scrutiny on Tea Party groups seeking tax-exempt status was a deliberate move, with 31 percent calling it an administrative mistake.
A strong majority, 74 percent, said the IRS moves were inappropriate to 20 percent who said they were appropriate. Fifty-one percent also said they believe those actions were illegal to 44 who said they were inappropriate but not against the law.
A plurality also believe the administration is not being forthcoming about the targeting scandal. Forty-five percent said the administration is trying to cover up facts, with 42 percent saying the White House has honestly disclosed what they know.
The controversies over the IRS, the Justice Departments seizure of reporters phone records and the administrations Benghazi talking points have kept the White House on the defensive this month.
The WP/ABC News poll, however, suggests the scandals have yet to damage the presidents personal standing.

So it wasn’t accidental? Hmmmm, who’d a thunk it?
“Majority believes IRS targeting of Tea Party was intentional”
100% of Democrats APPROVE!
How stupid do you think half the country is, O?
It’s like the fox and skunk inviting the farmer to the henhouse for a feast of omelets and chicken nuggets.. sorry
No bacon
31% of Americans are dedicated Marxists.
Watch every poll. There are 31% who would approve of murdering the other 69% if it assured a government of the proletariat.
And one in five of our fellow citizens see nothing wrong with government suppression of political opponents. Lovely. If anything, that’s on the low side.
Knowing the Washington Post is a LIBERAL paper -
and that knowing the Washington Post was doing the poll -
AND that the IRS doesn't like it when citizens are critical of Obama -
it's not surprising these scandals haven't damaged Obama's 'personal standing'...
Would YOU admit the truth to a liberal newspaper?
All this poll shows is that the MSM is still doing a good job of protecting Obama and his admin. Would love for the IRS to go after that 44 percent who believes what was done is not illegal. Bet they would all the sudden change their tune
Almost everyone has a dilike and fear of the IRS because they know that the IRS has unconstitutional power and likes to use it.
The abuse of power by the IRS and the threat of an IRS probe as a payback against political speech is one thing that even most democrats can understand.
The more intelligent among them are able to look into the future and see that there may not always be a hard core, ultra-left democrat sitting in the White House using the IRS as his own personal goon squad against republicans and conservatives.
You have to be a Libtard/Progressive not to.
They have been emboldened because they have gotten away with murder for the last 5 years. It’s really time to pull the plug.
I went to my coin jar and selected out 500 dimes.
So was targeting dimes? Of course not, it was just a coincidence that I had targeted FDR and every coin I took was a dime. If some pennies or nickles had FDR on them, I would have picked them too. So, clearly I wasn’t targeting dimes.
See how easy it is to think like a member of the Demedia.
Cue Captain Obvious. True the Vote has filed a suit against the IRS and California Tea Partiers have filed a class action suit.
Irrelevant. Nothing to see. Move along.
DUH!!!
