Where were you on Monday, May 18, 1981?
I had been promoted to management at the banks IT shop in December, and by now my group was the largest, best managed and happiest team on the floor. Reagan had survived an assassination attempt. MTV had gone on the air and was having the same influence on music as Elvis and the Beatles decades earlier.
Lets cue the Rockumentary theme!
San Remo Golden Strings: Festival Time
He had to die before getting this hit, which came in at #10 this week. Its a song explaining what he had been doing since his last disk in 1974.

The first link below is a link to You Tube videos of a local Houston Blues Band named “Blues Other Brothers”. “Doc” Greene, the director, lead singer and bassist is a personal friend of mine. What makes this band so special and unique is that they do benefit performances only. They never charge for their music. They have their own instruments and equipment which they pay for individually and as a group. They play at retirement homes, the VA hospital and other such venues. Please visit their You Tube channel where you will find many videos of their performances.
I salute him and all of his band members. His contributions to retirees and veterans has almost caused me to retrieve the drums from the attic, dust them off and remove the cob webs, but not quite. I might even have to buy some sticks because I do not know where mine are. ;-)
Here is the link to their You Tube channel:

Anyway, after you have visited their You Tube page and if you want to make comments then their Facebook page is as follows:

Good evening, Publius, and thank you for Rachmaninov’s “The Star Spangled Banner”.
In 1987, our family moved to California to take up the pastorate of a church in the Long Beach area. The day we flew into town, my secretary picked us up at the airport to take us to our house. As we pulled into traffic, the very first thing I saw was a bumper sticker that read: Welcome To California . . . Now Go Home! It was not exactly a warm and cheery welcome to sunny southern California!
I wonder if there might be occasions in our lives when we send similar signals to people around us. Whether we are at church, in the neighborhood, or at social gatherings, are there times when we fail to make others feel welcome in our world?
In Romans 12:13, Paul instructed his readers to be given to hospitality. The book of Hebrews goes even further, saying, Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels (13:2). By showing gracious kindness to those who come our way, we echo the Saviors invitation for salvation, which declares, Let him who hears say, Come! And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely (Rev. 22:17).
To show someone loving hospitality just might be the first step in showing that person the way to heaven.
Read: Revelation 22:16-21
Simple and dignified, as usual.
Kim Carnes made #1 this week. It will be the last song I post.
Almost Classically Classical
