Yep. I agree. Until his weird meltdown, he was THE most outspoken elected official about the Obama agenda. I felt like he had created the blueprint for beating Obama, and drawing a line between the states and DC. Sort of what we saw later from Perry and Brewer on specific issues.
Sanford has all the conservative creds; he has unfortunately unraveled in his personal life since 2009. I am cautiously optimistic that he could be a real asset in the House.
Ultimately, I’m just glad this guy isn’t my representative. Adultery, dereliction of duty, and misuse of funds is bad enough, but what I really couldn’t stomach was that press-conference of his in which he was sobbing and emoting like a 15-year-old girl, rambling on about his “soul-mate.” Good Lord! Again, what an embarrassing, pathetic excuse for a man.
who cares. he’s a disaster and he will be a disaster for the republicans.
There’s always the possibility he will serve honorably. One never knows.
I did a lot of soul searching over the past few week about what I would do if I lived in that CD and think I’d have voted for him, hoping against hope he would serve faithfully. We’ll see.
Loved the fact that she thought the race was in the bag, and began announcing her support for all the liberal positions on gay marriage, etc. Apparently, Ms. Colbert-Busch forgot she was running in the First Congressional District of South Carolina and disdain for Mark Sanford (alone) would not put her over the top.
Wonder how much money the DNCC, George Soros and other groups dumped into the race? I heard Sanford was outspent 4 or 5 to 1.
Sanford was actually a good Congressman before he won the governorship. If Mark can keep it in his pants, he can do a similar job this time around. My fear is that he’ll interpret his Congressional win as a mandate to run for statewide office again. Memo to Sanford: be thankful the voters of your district were forgiving enough to give you another chance. Now go to work and do your job. And stay the hell out of Argentina.
Right, like we should take standards advice from Dims. Rich.
Another RINO scumbag. Now Primary his ass.
Let’s see:
Cheated on his wife
Disappeared from his mandated Office for over a week.
Lied about it for almost a month in public and private.
Is that what passes for a conservative in South Carolina?
Yes!!! We are doing the dance of joy at our house.
Part of it goes through South Carolina. Or at least through North Carolina, or one of the other 57 states.
YYYYYYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
It helps to stop the socialist and obama agenda, I could never figure out why a couple and I mean just a couple did not want him to win and would rather see a socialist win
You are mistaken. Had the Dems taken this seat, Pelosi would have had an easier time raising money for all Dems in 2014.
This victory gives the House GOP a bit more breathing space.
It is good news whenever a liberal Democrat loses any race.
Though not without fault in his moral value, it's clear that Mark Sanford is not a sodomite. And, unlike his vile opponent, he the type of individual who merits our prayerful forgiveness.
Good. Now primary his freaky ass out in 2014.

Right-—like that’s going to happen after he spends the next 1 1/2 years voting in a conservative, tea party fashion. I predict you’ll be pretty lonely on this quest!
While you’ll be busy trying to primary conservatives in red districts, I’ll be busy trying to bring MORE conservatives into the House and more conservative Senators in to reinforce Ted Cruz. I bet I’ll be having more fun than you.
Sanford, who turns 53 later this month, has never lost a race in three runs for Congress and two for governor.
yet again the elitist establishment refused to help him and just sat there not bothered seeing a socialist win the seat.
Thank goodness SC, I love your state and GA
HUH, not sure what you guys think in CA but here in the south we would rather see us win than someone who would help the socialists and oabma
Sanford had a great debate with “Nancy Pelosi”.
